Mill Hill County School - Technology Apptitude Places

Any idea what these are? The school's website says that in the first round the children are given a general reasoning test but gives no indication what the next round of testing is for. I'm trying to decide whether it is worth considering as we are out of catchment for general admission.

Do you know what the cut off for distance places is? We may put it as an option as a back up to our first choices. I am not planning on going down the ability route, there are only 24 places and whilst the DC is really bright I don't think that they'll stand a chance against children who are also sitting for QEB and Henrietta Barnett.

Last year the furthest distance was 0.884 miles. As far as I could see, there are no ability places at Mill Hill, only music, dance and technology. Are you referring to Mill Hill Independent.

Had considered Henrietta Barnett but DH thinks that DD wouldn't pass the Maths test. Our only other choices are Yavneh and JFS. She'll get a sibling place at Yavneh so we not lacking a space. I'd like to explore other options though.

I think that the technology test is ability, it's a verbal reasoning test which indicates that it's an academic place but tbh I haven't looked into it in any great detail as it would be an application to fill a space in order to ward off any possibility of an offer from London Academy. We won't get in to Mill Hill county on distance then either, we are about 1.2 miles away. I think that Henrietta Barnett is out of the reach of even some of the brightest girls, with over 1500 girls sitting for a hundred and something places. My DC is close to the top of the top sets in maths and literacy, level 5's by mid year 5 but I still think that it would be a stretch to get up to speed for HBS.

What other choices do you have then if you don't want to go to London Academy?

Second round at Mill Hill County is maths and non-verbal. But with around 1000 doing the first round and only 250 for the second round it's not easy to get in on technology.

Thanks. DD wouldn't have a chance then, not after the fights we had with her last night to get her maths homework done.

OP don't worry. She can still try out as my son put it. If she gets through to 2nd round, her attitude might have changed to maths, because it is a real achievement to get through.
