I would drift towards Ackworth, but that's just because of the ethos. I don't know anything about Fulneck but I do know parents of DC at Ashville and Ackworth who rate both schools.

Daughter goes to Ashville as a boarder and I'm not sure about Fulneck or Ackworth. She's not too keen on it currently and I'm aware it's not the best school out there, by far. It's got a fairly strong emphasis on Methodism and the teachers are fairly good, but I think the school as a whole just lacks something, the pupils are quite clichy and from what my daughter's told me, quite falsely pretentious (some of them don't have much reason to be) doesn't offer much for sport other than your standard swimming, rugby, hockey and netball with tennis in the summer. Sense of favoritism in that school too. Quite cheap in comparison to some schools though! That's probably a good thing, but I guess you pay for what you get and you don't get much there...

interesting galouche, know a few dc at Ashville and they are all happy. New head not getting such good vibes though.
Ponyfanny all three of these are rather low ranking boarding schools to be honest, and both ackworth and fulneck in particular are tiny.
I only know 1 family at fulneck, and only a couple at ackworth, despite being close to the latter.
If i was considering them i would want a really close look at eg finances, and their ability to stretch brighter children - fulneck's year 7 currently has just under 40 kids in, and only 10 boys - not even enough for one rugby team!
If you are interested in strong pastoral care etc what about Bootham in York?

I know lots of parents with children at Ashville and they all seem delighted with it.they are all day children though, so i am not sure what the boarding is like.
