Both my DS did general engineering ones, at Southampton and Imperial, both thought they wre really good. Do apply early.
You can select the ones you are most interested in, then the headstart people allocate you a course. After the course, DS went on to Soton to study engineering. DS2 will be applying in October, not sure on final choices yet but def wants to study engineering.

Ds wants to go to Southampton to study acoustic engineering. I think the application date opens on 1st september so will apply straight away.
Does your DS like Southampton?

Yes he loves it. He's studying aerospace engineering, and just about to start his second year.

It's a tough course, and they need to be really self starters, lots of 9am starts and 6pm finishes I thnk only the medics work harder

certainly it's among the toughest degrees, with about 24 hrs pw contact time, plus they are expected to put in about the same themselves.
