Grammer School Entry - Question

Treadmillmom · 11/07/2012 11:36

Okay, my son will be entering Year 5 in September and I'm aware that it is when I need to start his 11+ tutoring ready for the entry exam in July 2013.
What I'm unsure of is whether there is 1 11+ exam or whether I have to approach a specific grammer school and register for their exam?
If it is the latter should I register with more than one school to increase his chances of getting in?
Please advise.

The 11+ arrangements vary from region to region. Look at this site - it tells you everything you need to know: www.elevenplusexams.co.uk

Grin at bumping after 3 mins.

You need to look on your council website, and ask around, has anyone in your DC's class got older siblings that have already been through the process?

Most boroughs have their own 11+ exam. In Bexley there are around 5 or so schools. You don't need to apply to each school individually but rather your DD sits one exam - the Bexley 11+. St Olaves, however has their own exam and not a borough exam. Each borough/school differs so be sure to check out the elevenplus site. Here is the exact link www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/schools/choosing-a-school. It's on the left hand side under regions. It took me a while to find, so hopefully this will help you. Good luck!
