My DS (Yr 8) seems to have problems with remembering information/concentrating and consequently is becoming disruptive in class ie distracting others as he is falling behind....does anyone have any advice as Im thinking I should get him assessed...all the school does is put him on report, which does help him focus, but aprt from this the school does not have the resources to support him further (and this is an 'outstanding' & over-subscribed) school in Muswell Hill.
Where do I start in finding an assessor?

Go to your GP and ask for a referral to CAMHS. They are the childrens and adolescent mental health services. Sounds scary but they are the people I should think to assess him. It will take an extremely long time though. My son has inattentive ADHD and has difficulty with remembering and concentrating.

In the meantime you can help by having a good regular routine and writing things down for him. I give my son regular prompts and don't punish him for his bad memory and inattentiveness. Sometimes that can be enough.
