13yr old dd off to Normandy fir a lovely outward bound thing.

School did it for the 1st time last year and all was fine. No worries about that .

Now I'm not a pfb twitchy mum and they are year 8 ( and she's my 3rd!) BUT..

They want them to wear PE polo shirts on the journey each way ie coach / services ferry etc.

I can see they need to spot them and ll that but these have school crest, name and the child's name legibly embroidered on.

Tell me I'm being silly but I don't like strangers just knowing their names - chatting them up on the ferry etc....I know they aren't gullible 3 yr old and " hi daisy come and see my kitties" won't work, but still... ( no daisy isn't my dd name either!)

Their names are on their shirts? Cool!
I think it will be fine
It's the same as in your city surely, anyone could see their name?

Yes you're being silly!
How quaint - I used to have my name embroidered on my PE top. My mum loved the fact we had an extremely long family name!

I didn't think that you were allowed to identiy children with their personal name on the outside of their clothes. We wanted to do it at school but were told we couldn't do this due to safeguarding.

Won't they have a jumper or hoodie on over the top anyway?

Will make them easy to count. Would you prefer your dd to be the one left at Calais when all the others are on the coach.

Pthese are PE tops. They dont go outside school in them normally.

I understand the need to be able to spy them etc when my eldest has been on tour they've had hoodies with school x choir tour 2011 etc and a nick name - eg blondie. Not their ral name in that's all

But they're 13 year sold - they're not going to fall for the trick of a stranger reading their name and pretending to know them - I don't understand your concern?
