You havent got much choice between those two have you ? Personally i think both are poor academically, though Turnford is just that bit slightly better. turnford is also supposed to be really good for sports. I heard new head is trying to improve academics at turnford a bit by introducing homework once week (i heard this from a parent, so not gospel!) but if its true Shock

Cheshunt school on the other hand, the kids seem happy but it really is the sink school of the area. Sorry i cant be more positive.

It's ok, I'm not asking for my DCs we live on north London, and they already at secondary.
My cousin is moving to cheshunt and is looking at schools, those 2 are the only ones with places

Have you/cousin thought about Goffs ? Its the best in the area, You can sit there entry test if slightly out of catchment so its partially selective.

I'd either settle for Turnford (52%) pass at A-C grades or move further up the A10, neare broxbourne or hoddesdon. Have. You checked John Warner in hoddeson ? Just 10 mins drive from cheshunt, Broxbourne school is the best and most heavily over subscribed, but i jave know friends who moved into the area and got places for dc.

Mine are at JW and it is a lovely school and easy to get to from Cheshunt by train as well.

Cheshunt maybe improving with the new Head. It seems to me far better for boys, than girls or some reason. It's not cool to be academic if you are a girl and they don't get pushed, but the parents of boys seem to be happier with the school, they also seem to handle SN such as Aspergers quite well.
Unfortunately there is a very small group of hardcore trouble makers but not sure how they are allowed to affect the running of the school.

Also know children at Turnford, just seems a bit lacklustre to me, when I was looking 6 years ago I would have taken Cheshunt over Turnford.
There was actually a nice atmosphere about Cheshunt that I can't put my finger on. Also I work close by the schools and was often walking home when the schools came out and the Cheshunt pupils are well behaved and no trouble.
