Bad headaches and fever at school?

Over the last week, DD has come back with stories of very bad headaches and children collapsing with fevers, and being sent home. Is this spreading at your DC's school? Does anyone know what it is? Expect that it'll get the usual viral infection label, and wondered if this is the start or is it well advanced in its spread across schools. Just seems a little early for virus season, especially at day schools, and given the recent fine weather.

sounds a bit familiar. My DS ill over weekend with very bad headache, high fever, hurt to look at light etc . we wondered if he was having a migraine, but when I spoke to my sister (she lives miles away, in the north of England, we live in the south west) she said several children, who had the same symptons had been sent home from her sons school - two had even been sent to hospital!so looks like it is a virus, but no clue what it is.
