We have decided to move to Gloucester as better chance of grammar school entry for DD than in Wiltshire as we live out of catchment and Gloucester intake by exam grade. Any views on girls grammars as open days not until a few days before applications end. Pates seems amazing but v hard to get into and I had a rather snotty conversation with someone at Gloucester High School which put me off ( i know that is pathetic ). Ribston Hall High seems good but someone told me it is considered the underdog. All so confusing so any comments would be greatfully accepted.

All the grammars in Gloucester are very good. Pates is indeed very difficult to get into, however you have a pretty good chance of either Ribston and High School. Higjh School is bettef academically, and is a bit of a hothouse, but there is not very much between it, Ribston would be considered head and shoulders a brilliant school in most cities, it just suffers by comparison with High School.

Don't discount Stroud High.
Quite a few girls from Glos travel to Stroud daily - the school is quite close to the station.
