Applied for a sixth form place for teenage DS1 who because of clash of subjects on his current school timetable cannot stay and study the subjects he wants to.

Member of staff at L A rings and asks to speak to a different name. Thought it was a wrong number till she said LA. I said we'd applied to LA, she asks for applicant name. Tell her and she says is that a christian name or a surname. It is a very traditional English christian name. She then says can he or she come in for an interview??? He or she ???? Tongue in cheek, i said I don't have a he OR she.... Member of staff confused. I'm not impressed.

Has anyone anything positive to say on this school?

Nothing apart from avoid like the plague! Can't give much away but behaviour is pretty awful and the staff turnover is high...

Thanks emilie - much my thoughts. I was hoping someone might bring some postive comment here.

My son has a grade 8 in music - he's represented England in athletics - and he's predicted to get 10 good GCSE's this summer - probably 2A*s and a handful of A's. London Academy's not his scene, is it?

I drive past this school when I return to London. My kids are always amazed by its sheer size and the security guards at the entrance. I think there was a fatal stabbing there a few years back. Avoid like the plague

Yes, avoid it if you can. I visited this school a few years back and asked the Head of languages a few questions. I couldn't understand a word she was saying and she was speaking in english at the time. I was trying to imagine what she would sound like speaking in french or spanish.
