Nothing - though to be honest not expecting to hear anything after the exam which was v. tough.

Waiting and worrying......what do they do if it is a no? Send the letter in March?

chubmum · 18/01/2011 11:00

Don't worry Nickmom. Surely you must have good plan B, and it's so tough that unless dd flies through it, may not the right place? (Not meaning to be patronising, just supportive)

Surely they must send out a "no" email as well as "yes" emails. Cant let you wait until March.

The letter from the school says " Candidates who do sufficiently well in their examinations will be invited for interview. Parents of THESE girls will be contacted by email from Tuesday 18th January...." Sort of implies that no interview means no e-mail? Or am I reading it wrong?

We have not received anything (it is 2.30 pm). Would be helpful to know whether anyone has. Thanks!

We have not received anything either. Will they send them all at once?

Has anyone heard anything yet? Its 18.35 and some have said they sometimes send them out late in the day

No one from my school heard today. Typically most girls who are told to sit the exam will at least get an interview. Everyone very upset.

Does anyone know if they have completed all the invitations?

One rumour I have heard is someone rang the school and they said emails may not go out till Friday. Nobody I have spoken to has heard as of 8am this morning

Some news. I have talked to Admissions in St Pauls

The e-mails have not gone out yet (they intended to send them yesterday but faced a technical problem). They are aiming to send them today but, if this is not possible, by tomorrow at the very latest.

EVERY PARENT WILL GET AN E-MAIL response, whether or not the girls are invited for an interview.

I hope this helps

i did not get an interview either. I asked if they can tell me how well or how bad she did and they said no they dont give any details and it is basically 'case closed' if you're turned down. They say don't do resits and they dont do waiting lists. I'm I the only one that think that this sooooo unfair and they are not transparent and feel they have the right not to be transparent. We should at least know what our dds scored!!

My DD is past this stage but I have been following this threat with interest and a huge amount of sympathy. It is a stressful time!
I know a bit from the inside perspective of a St. Paul's competitor. They won't tell you the scores. Don't bother phoning and asking. If they got into a discussion with every disappointed parent, they would get nothing else done for a very long time. It is a real blow if you fell in love with that school but you and DD are in the company of hundreds of others. It may be that they had a very clever cohort this year and your DD might have made it through in previous years. It might also be the case that you have dodged a bullet. If DD had squeaked in, there might have been years of frustration and dented self-esteem ahead. They are not the finished article at 10/11 and a school where DD can excel might be a better choice for now. You can always try again at 16 when you know where DD's talents lie and DD is more involved in the choice.
A big glass of wine for you all. The system is rotten and you are doing well to get through it -sanity intact!

Maybe the head teacher can get more information. Seems they should give a bit of feedback. Above else waiting on CLSG tomorrow?

thanks horsemadmom. I actually think it's for the best considering other issues apart from the academics. Like you said we probably missed a bullet. She'll go where she'll thrive and she'll do well. She passed 11+ grammar school exam if nothing else, which she found harder than the St. Pauls test which is why I really wanted to know her scores. oh well, cheers everyone. Having my sanity intact during these times is definitely something to celebrate!

Understand how everyone feels but there are other schools in London and most produce outstanding results.

For what it is worth I have dd's in SPGS and CLSG. My dd's study the same/similar subjects to the same/ similar academic standard. The main difference between the two schools that I have noticed so far is that SPGS give out far more homework than is necessary as dd2 at CLSG achieves the same/similar results as dd1 across all subjects ( both dd's in same year) and gets at least a third less homework on average.
