SSE Hydro parking

I've got tickets for a event next month, is the car park a nightmare to get out of?

How long is the walk from the station to the hydro if I decide the train will be easier?

The carpark is the best car park I've ever been in for getting in and out after an event - but of course, it is a huge carpark and there are always thousands of cars, so you won't glide out! But you will get out reasonably easily - it's certainly nothing like the old SECC parking used to be.

Train is about 10 mins from memory but gets v crowded when the gig lets out. And depending where you're connecting to you may be cutting it fine - I had to run like the clappers to get from Central to Queen Street for the last Edinburgh train, proper 'oh my god I'm going to throw up but need to keep running'.

Depending on what direction you're coming from, you could also park on the South Side in the Science Centre Car Park (but remember to take change - iirc it's £3 and there isn't or wasn't a facility to use a card some kind stranger ended up paying for us) and walk across Bells Bridge.

We were there at the weekend - didn't use the car park. About 20min walk to central station or 30mins to queen street. We had to run the last bit to make the last train.

We waited about 40 min to get out of the multi-storey at the weekend from level 4. Unlike previous events they only had one of the two sets of ramps open and I think they were clearing level by level starting at the ground. God knows how long it took the folk above us to get out! In the past they've used both the up and down ramps for exit and we've been maybe 15-20 minutes wait. I loathe it but we are coming into Glasgow from about an hour away, no public transport available to get home that late and we don't know the area at all so it is easier all round to drive. However, as suggested by a PP, I shall maybe try the science centre next time, I do know where that is!!

If you have to use the car park, my advice would be to go really early, get parked on the ground floor near the exit that faces the Hydro and then go off for pre-show food and drink. We did that once and were out in 5 mins!

I stay in Stirling but I think I'll take the car and either get there early or park in the Science Centre. I'm rubbish with public transport and I'd end up being the one who misses the train home.

The last time I was at the Hydro I parked in the ATS car garage which was a 2 min walk away but that was a Sunday and only for about an hour and a half coronation Street tour.

I usually park in Finnieston/Kelvingrove, across the big red bridge/walkway which connects to Exhibition station. Good for heading back north.

Or parking at Science centre if going Southside.

It is nightmare to get out of to be honest, maybe try and leave a few mins early to beat the rush otherwise you will be queuing for a long time to get out! The security staff direct traffic iirc. We're going to an event there next month too, not WWE is it? I have booked a hotel for the night as I don't fancy the drive back to Fife from Glasgow!

Haha WWE! I think I've managed to get out of it now as DH is going to ask for the afternoon off so he can take our 13yr old. He says he'll take the train tho.

We park at Charing Cross about a 15 min walk away and then we're straight on the m8.
