I have been following this horrific story through the media. I know it's still in court so shall 'haud ma wheesht' until the verdict...
But on the evidence presented so far - shocked and sickened

agent listening to the details, I have sympathy for those who wish we had the death penalty. How do you punish people with no humanity who (allegedly) tortured children then murdered one?

What's interesting is whether they are both intrinsically evil (and if so, how did they find each other) or was one influenced by the other.

The trauma I feel at the news reports (which will be heavily edited to make tea time viewing) makes me wonder how the surviving wee boy must be. Cannot get over how these children have endured this. Not haudin ma wheesht, someone somewhere murdered that child.

I suspect that this will be one of these cases where we will hear even more distressing information after the completion of the trial. Poor wee things. At least the remaining two will (presumably) be safe, warm and cared for now.

This is very local to me, have heard a lot of things but no comment here.
Folk moaning about the named person stuff being introduced, this is the kind of awful awful stuff it will hopefully pick up sooner.
Poor wee boy.

Hmmm, I think the worry is that these serious issues will be missed while 'named guardians' chase parents for missing dental appointments..
But, that's not for today or this thread.

Good God, why hasn't this made it onto the national news? I don't think I'd have seen this story were it not for the fact that this came up in active conversations. Those poor children. RIP Liam xxx

I believe the media has been restricted in what they can say.

The more comes out at the trial, the more I'm sickened by what's been going on. That poor wee soul must have suffered for a long time - the childminder had reported concerns to the authorities and still nothing was done.

Why all of a sudden have they started showing the accused women's faces on telly?

Report
AgentProvocateur · 18/05/2016 18:51

The accused can always be shown. They're on TV more now because it's their turn to give evidence.

I know what Luna is getting at, as dh and I have noticed the same thing. Until now, whenever they've been shown walking to/from the courthouse, they've had their faces blurred or deliberately only filmed from the neck down. Suddenly, we can see their faces.

MrsPresley · 18/05/2016 19:34

There's a page, or whatever it's called on Facebook called Uk and Eire database for all crimes against children.

They've been reporting on this trial, and a lot more than what is in the newspapers.

They've asked for people not to comment on the posts and I'll warn you now, it's an extremely distressing read Sad

I had to stop reading as it was so horrific.

No, they talk about "other children" but are careful not to name them or say how they are related to any of the adults or Liam.

Yes that's what I meant about identifying - last week the two accused women were shown from behind or filmed from the neck down and this week they're showing their faces. Probably some legal technicality.

I couldn't see where I'd said that, but I've realised it was an earlier post. I've reported it and asked for it be removed.

Luna you're right in that the accused's faces can be shown now the crown case against them had closed. prior to that media would be barred from showing their faces
