Has anyone done their 1 + 2 languages training?

What's the workload like? I'm looking at a 20 week course (2 hours a class).

I've got a Higher French but realistically I can say 'bonjour' and a few colours and that's your whack.

I did afternoons for eight weeks last year - no homework. grin

Who is running the training?

The MFL QIO, afaik.

(feel like I'm speaking in code there grin )

8 weeks would be fine... 20 weeks seems an awful lot.

It does seem a lot, if you already have some French. That sounds more like the old MLPS course. We did have a couple of Inservice day sessions and twilights, now that I think about it, so maybe the hours were similar overall.

Do you use the Power Language Platform?

I've never heard of that confused

Realistically, to be able to teach it properly to the upper school I know I'll need to put quite a bit of work in, so probably better get it over and done with.

Ask your HT/QIO about the PLP (ya boo to you with your abbreviations!) - all the plans you need are on there, and loads of resources. I've no idea what it costs to subscribe: the login we have covers Tayside, so I suspect councils get together to cover the cost.
