We've taken our ds's out for a holiday during term time and never been fined.

We're in Wales.

Thanks, I probably will just go but was hoping to be told that as he is under 5 that I won't be fined for this. Is this the case?

I think they are quite strict as they've refused others with similar situations. Just wondered if we could actually be fined given that he is only 4?

They might authorise it if you explain the long haul / family visit thing.

We took ds out of receptiion for a week to go on a cruise with the pil's for their golden wedding. School were fine. He had to do a "holiday scrap book" though.

DS is still under 5 and in reception. I know school won't authorise any holiday in term time but I was just wondering about the possibilities of a fine if he isn't yet at an age where he legally has to be in school. Could I still be fined? Only thinking of a day or so either side of half term but would be the only way it would be affordable and worthwhile to visit family abroad (long haul flight away).
