Clingy kids?

Do any other sahps have children that are very clingy with them? If so how do you cope with it?
My dh works lots so it always worked out that i have done most care for the dc (aged 3 and 1.) He's a fantastic dad but I guess they are so used to me doing everything. It's starting to make me feel really rubbish as I don't feel I have the same freedom as dh, eg if I go out when they are awake the kids scream and cry and I don't enjoy what I'm going to do anyway!
Feel like I really need a break. I'm trying to be a good mum but am now feeling overwhelmed and find myself feeling resentful about it all.

I was in a similar situation.

If I were you I'd suggest your DH takes them out for the day, somewhere fun. That will help them bond and your children will relate to him as a care giver instead of reverting to you.

Definitely get him taking them out on his day off, and doing bath time if he is around at that time? My DD is very clingy too, she used to be only with me but now she will happily cling to either of us which is a relief for me. He works really varying hours so we have to work with the time we've got. If he's home for bath time he does it and I do bed, if he's home for nap time he does it, and on his days off he takes her out for a few hours. Honestly the difference is huge.
