I'm a SAHP and am concerned I'm not doing enough to stimulate her. I feel I'm not doing enough but my PIL feel I'm doing too much!

Could you tell me what you do with your children, day to day? Please be honest as I am concerning myself over this.

Another asking for age. If she's only a couple of months old, honestly going out and doing stuff with her is more for your benefit to keep the boredom at bay and meet other adults during the day. Sounds like you're being very self critical, just remember to be kind to yourself, if she's happy and your happy those are the most important things

3 is a great age for mums and tots groups and now the weather is picking up going out for walks, to feed the ducks, up to the shops is all great. I plan one 'thing' a day in the morning and then the afternoon after naps is just a wing it session depending on what it's like outside or how we're all feeling. Days when I can't be arsed doing anything we walk up to my mums house of she's free and they play with her toys while I put my feet up and have a cup of tea with my mum. They love it, change of scenery is enough sometimes!

What do you do currently?

When my older two were 3 we used to do something most mornings to get out of the house. Less mess, tires them out Wink. Playgroup, park, puddle jumping, shopping, bug hunting, picking smelly plants to make homemade perfume ... In the afternoon maybe baking/cooking, art/craft, general play with toys, reading books, swimming. As Dd1 got older (she didn't go to nursery) I would do some number/money play and some basic phonics/letter formation on some mornings then go out in the afternoon.

Sorry I never responded yesterday.

Well this week we've been to the Zoo (which she absolutely loved) and we visited my parents, my aunts the day before yesterday and another aunts yesterday then on to a friends for a few hours.

We've done some sensory play and learning numbers, been swimming and games at home.

Today we are having a lazy day while I catch up on chores but headed to a play centre for a couple of hours later on so DD can get rid of some energy!

You are doing more than enough then, relax, they pick up so much from just being with you doing everyday things.

My ds is 3, he goes to nursery in the pm for 2/3 hours but our day typically goes am-breakfast, Lego play, something physical (garden, walk to the shops, park after we've taken dd to playgroup, stay and play if she's clingy, adventure walk in woods, etc), pm nursery, 4pm home and garden in water or sand or soil whilst I'm making dinner/weeding/housework, pick up dh, eat, play games until 7.40, stories or night garden and bed. Pretty standard but mine seem to like routine it's harder with multiples!

I have a 2 yr old and aim to do something outside the house at least every other day, even if its just a trip to the shops. It's amazing how stimulating and tiring that is for him Grin Other trips are park, playgroup, garden centre, my mums etc. Then inside just read, play, tv. You are doing plenty! Remember how it is to be a child... Most things are exciting. I used to love just going to the supermarket!
