you can do a quick search here though you may need to sign up for free trial to see results

it should give you where the marriage took place and the name of the husband

for more info you would need to go to place of marriage I think

I just searched for my mother's marriage on OrientCalf's link, using her first name, surname & date of birth, & found her marriage to my father. It just gave me the spouse surname & the county. But it offered a 14 day free trial if I wanted to be able to see the date & other details.

ok, I think if you want more info you can sign up for free trial but you have to put in CC details. you can cancel subscription before 14 days are up and not pay anything if that's what you want to do - I have done this

the only thing is that I think it only gives the year and quarter (eg Jan-Mar-Feb) of the marriage, not the exact date, and I think it gives the district rather than the precise location of the marriage. presumably it is enough to go on to find the details at local records office, but I have never done this

it also doesn;t show a marriage certificate, just the name in the register index

I can look it up for you on ancestry.co.uk if you'd like

sorry - read rest of posts.

I'd only be able to see what you've found already - name of spouse, district, year and quarter

I just don't believe it is true. I need to know if it is.

Hardly .

She has never told me and I strongly suspect it is another lie.

OP - try the free bmd index - it depends how unusual the surname is as to whether you'll find the record.

If you do find a record and you want to order a certificate or use the certificate checkng service then you need to go to the gro website.
