6 week check up is the recommended time, frankly after a traumatic birth and no sleep for what felt like forever I could have gone for a lot longer without it.

However if you feel especially keen to, ahem, reforge relationships with your significant other before then, speak to your HV to make sure your scar is healing ok.

I had c section nearly 16yrs ago with my first and if I remember it was fine after Id stopped bleeding, and at least I was in tact!! The other 4 births were not so straight forward!!

This is where you find the bonus aspect of a c section...I had an em cs with DS and was not happy with it at all...but spirits were lifted a tad when DH said

'ooh you feel the same down there'

Think we DH only waited 10 days or so. It took 7 months after my vaginal delivery

We waited until my 6 week check - though I felt fine much sooner, but (it being my first) I wasn't sure what was OK and what wasn't!

I think we should have waited longer though, as the next baby is now due in August and DS will only be 13 months old!

I was pregnant 10 weeks after my third CS - the midwife said "well, you're obviusly coping with things then!". AFAIK it's generally recommended to wait till at least your 6 week check up, but contraception most definately advised, as medical peeps prefer at least a year after a CS before a furhter pregnancy.
