The things my kids witness

My sons' have just got back from their weekend with their dad.

DS2 was telling me that one of their cats scratched ex's stepson (11) on the back so I asked what happened next and he said he "punched it". He then did an impression of someone on the ground repeatedly punching someone/something.

I asked "seriouslly? he did that??" and DS said "yes, Dad punched the cats too when they annoy him".

I asked what his dad's girlfriend thought about this and so he said "nothing, cos she does it too". By this point I was a little sceptical...a 48 year old woman punching cats?? so I asked DS1 whether he had seen this and so DS2 admitted "well, she doesn't punch them..." so DS1 said "no she doesn't, she just kicks them really hard".

I said "what do you mean? playfully or angrily?" and so DS2 said "she doesn't play, she does it really angry, she kicks them and then fly into the air". I turned to DS1 and said "is this true??" and he said "yes, she kicks them across the room or if they're in her way she picks them up and throws them".

I'm at this but unsure what to do, what should I do? I have explained to DS's that this isnt the way to treat animals but they're still witnessing it.

God, the nasty, cruel, stupid little bastards. DO report them to the RSPCA - those poor animals could be seriously injured and in lots of pain. Why on earth do the miserable gits keep the cats if they can't stand them - do they actually get something out of having a couple of punch bags? Horrible at so many levels but a seriously bad idea for your dss to see this - they might start to think this is an acceptable way to behave even if on the surface they know it isn't.

Apart from anything else, it's against the fucking law and they need to be called on it.

This is revolting behaviour towards defenceless animals. Please report them immediately. And your sons should not be witnessing this. Quite right.

Maybe the Cats Protection League could give some advice?
It's well out of order though. The cats can't speak up for themselves so they need somebody to do it for them. Probably the reason why they are being hurt in the first place - cowards bully something that can't really fight back or do much about it.
Sorry.
