Relationships

Question for those who've been through splitting up process

My partner and I are not married. We have a toddler dd and I am a SAHM.
DP is not taking seriously the fact that I would like us to split. However, I don't think our relationship is healthy for us and particularly for dd.
I'm clueless about what to do next particularly as I've chosen to give up work to look after dd which I love doing and also because we're not divorcing as such.
Could anyone who's been through a similar situation give me an idea of what to do next?
Thanks

Have you considered counseling? Relate can help even if you still end up seperating it might help you to sort out how you are going to do it and partner might take you more seriously.

You need to be practical and look at the finances, housing and contact.

Is partner likely to kick up a fuss about paying maintainance?

You need to find out about what you can claim for.

You need to sort out if you are staying in the house you are in or if you will need help tofind another home.

Agree with skribble - counselling is definitely the way to go. DP would then have to listen and take you seriously, but better still, you may actually find that you can work through the issues and stay together. If not, the counselling would help you to calmly discuss how the separation will work in reality and help you both to get through it in the most amicable way possible.
