Where to start? I've made my mind up. I just don't know how to do it. We have one ds. No assets. We both contribute to childcare costs - I couldn't afford it on my own. I think I would struggle financially if I set up on my own but I can't live in this marriage any longer. We've tried relate. He changed but only for a few months but now we're back where we started.

Would you plan to rent again and have you an idea of the likely costs?

It might be worth seeing the CAB who could advise if you can claim any benefits. It always feels impossible when you break up to manage financially but ultimately there is always a way. You will be eligible for CMS which are based on his income, assuming your son will live with you.
How old is your son as childcare costs don't last forever.

First step is to do some research, you don't need to divorce straight away so plan on the actual separation, living in separate places.

Yes, I'd have to rent again. I haven't looked at costs.

My boy is 14 months, so childcare will last a fair bit longer. I currently work part time, I do 3 days a week. I have no idea if I'd be eligible for benefits - I suspect not because although I work part time, my salary isn't terrible.

We have no savings.
