Just broken up, holiday paid for my ex, should I go

I broke up with my partner of ten years a few days ago. We had a family holiday booked at a great resort in Turkey. He paid, the holiday is in my name. i will be moving out of his house iN September after the children go back to school, it's going to be very painful for me. Should I go on the holiday taking my son, he has offered it to me FOC. Should I pay a token towards it? Should I trust leaving the house with all my son and mine belongings? Either way it will cause resentment but our future is over anyway.

Accepting a freebie, however good the intentions may appear to be, leave you vulnerable. I'd not go personally

Go. And enjoy yourselves. You need a break and staying here will just be more miserable. Don't offer to pay anything.

If there is anything you need, or want to keep private, lock it away or take it to someone else's house. He's not likely to change the locks on you is he? If it's his house he could do this.

What does your gut tell you?

I actually find it quite odd that you ask about trusting him with yours and his child's things!
What has happened that makes you wary of that, and stops you just wanting to go on the holiday?
My XH was a cheat and I certainly don't like him - but I wouldn't have thought there was anything underhand if this had been our situation. So why is it worrying you? Work that out, and it might inform your answer.

Maybe it would just be good for both of you to be apart for a while? Is he simply acknowledging this?

I would certainly move anything personal out of the house, but do you really think anything else wouldn't be safe?

I wouldn't go. It will come back to bite you

I would just go, he won't get any money back at this point anyhow,

A lot of places insist that the credit card used to make a booking is presented at check in, both at airports and hotels. Before you even consider going you need to check this.

I travel all the time and I've never had that, with the cards.
Only time I ever needed an exact card was to retrieve a train ticket and a phone call to thetrainline sorted that.
Cards expire and get lost all the time!
Just a phone call would surely sort that out.

Generally you only need the same card to refund on to.

I wholly agree with Cabrinha - those were my first thoughts too.

Not when the holiday is already paid for.

I have found that some hotels, even when paid for, will ask for a credit card on check-in in case you use the mini-bar or run up some other charges while staying there.

DietCockBreak Fri 29-Jul-16 13:38:46

He wouldn't be able to get a refund anyway and he says he's fine with you going, I would go.

They might, but that can be any credit card, doesn't have to be the one used to pay, when it was paid already.
