How many times have you been married?

Never thought I would be getting divorced for a 2nd time as I was in 2 minds about marriage a second time, but I wanted the happy ever after (married both my kids dads) and thought it would work out (as you do) I'm only late 30s and feeling there might be a stigma surrounding being twice married/divorced at a young age.
Thinking never again now..

Zero.

Never fancied it.

Once. DP twice and twice divorced. I don't think it matters. You went into it hoping it would work and for the right reasons.

I like the idea of being married again but equally it scares me so happy to just be at the moment.

My DM was divorced twice by the end of her twenties! #3 has been a keeper though.

Never married, aged 41. Don't believe in happy ever after either, too much of a realist!!!!

That said I have been with DC's Father for 11 years and am committed to being with him at least till DC grow up, on the basis that we are both stil, changing and may want to go off and have 'different' lives at some point, who knows!

I think people expect too much from 'marriage' as a concept these days!!

Once. Disaster.

Dp and I talk about it now and again but I don't see what's in it for me, really.

As of yesterday, twice.

Met exH aged 18 at uni, got together at 19, married at 26, kids at 30 & 33, separated at 36, divorced a few years later.

Met DH at 27 (he interviewed me for a job), worked with him for years with no indication of romantic intentions on either side (or even any interaction outside of work). ExH left me, now DH and his ex-wife split up, we got more friendly and got together. Married yesterday at 44.

He's just been diagnosed with terminal cancer, so it won't be forever. Who knows what the future will bring.

Make the most of where you are and what you have.

Like others - never, don't expect to be, don't believe in happy ever after. Don't reckon I could ever trust anyone enough to legally tie myself to them so completely, and the idea has never been a huge deal to me anyway.

For what it's worth, I don't think it's all that unusual to think this way, I know plenty of seasoned cynics who do! I certainly wouldn't judge anyone for being divorced a couple of times. Unless you've wandered through life in a blissful haze where nobody ever grows apart from their partner, cheats or falls out of love, it's pretty easy to understand why people might divorce more than once. Likewise, if somebody really rates marriage, then surely they should understand why you might choose to marry a second or third time.

Aged 44 here.
Just the once and still married, currently 19 years.
Not perfect. Probably more just convenient these days, but I never believed in or expected a happy ever after either. We do love each other and get on, so that helps.

Just once, nearly 40 years ago, very much feel like Cathemeral

If it hadn't worked out I wouldn't have married again! Wouldn't have the patience to try training another 😀

I am 37, got married at 30 - lovely man, however I wasn't ever 100% about him, turns out neither he was about me. Divorced in 2013.

Then met my now Fiance who is 110% the ONE - I now know what love is. We are getting married in 2017.

I never thought I would get married twice but when you know you know!

Once, and still married after 23 years.

There have been many very tough times though, and I think we came through by the very skin of our teeth. It hasn't been an easy ride.

No stigma attached to divorce these days. Half of our wider families are divorced. These days I think more people realise just how tough life can be, and hopefully that means less social and family pressure to hush problems up and remain with a partner who has turned out to be less than suitable.

Congratulations chasing, I hope you get lots of time to spend together.

Me, on second (and final) marriage. Married too young the fist time.

I'm 31, was married, divorced and married again by the end of my twenties. Not ideal as a track record but I'm happy.

I'm 36, been married once (and still am, quite happily!). But I was in a short-lived cohabiting relationship in my 20s and had a dc.

I'm 36, have never been married. Just never fancied doing it.
I do however have 3 children and have been with my partner for 14 years. My children think it's hilarious when I call him my boyfriend!
