Why is another woman's debit card in my house?

Please talk me down, I think I'm close to a panic attack.

My husband is away on business today, he will return this evening, so I can't speak to him right now.

This afternoon I have found a debit card in my house (in the living room) behind some furniture that is not mine. It's not my name or anything close to it. We don't know anybody by the name. The piece of furniture was only recently moved and there was nothing there.

So where the fuck did this come from? Please tell me there's a solution that doesn't include him shagging around. He hasn't shown any of the signs - I know them - exH cheated. I'm an absolute mess.

It could be so many things. Try not to get too carried away. My first thought is, have you googled the name? That should give you a few clues to begin with. Have a look on Facebook if you use that.

It could be a simple mistake - cards can easily get caught up in things. Even if it was a strange woman in your house why would she get her credit card / purse out? And why would your DH be carrying someone else's debit card around?

Do you have a cleaner who might have lost it?
Where did the furniture come from? It myth have been stuck there and then fell out.
Google the name and see what comes up.

Something your toddler picked up?
Maybe he found it in an ATM or nearby and intended on returning it to the branch?

Do you have kids who might have found it out and about and picked it up to play with? Is it still valid (in date) or expired - so it might have been thrown out somewhere?
Are you or your DH involved in a business where someone might have to pay by debit card, and then have let it behind?
Are you sure it is not a name you recognise - could a friend still be using her maiden name etc, or a nickname as a first name?
Has anyone visited at all -sales rep, medical person etc, who may have dropped it?
Ia it a real cars - not a mock up one that are sometimes in new purses/wallets when you buy them?

Search the name on Facebook, it could turn out to belong to one of your kids friends mums or partner of a friend or something. Try not to freak out too much.

Having said that I'd probably be on my third glass of wine by now. Jk OP, could be a total misunderstanding!

This is like the time someone on here found a woman's top in her ironing basket and it turned out to be the lady who came to her house to do her nails. There will most likely be a perfectly innocent explanation.

How old are your DC? Have you had visitors or workmen in the house?

TBH my initial reaction would be to look at all the rational options first, unless there is some spidery sense you have which is causing your leap of thought to a relationship with another woman.

If the furniture isn't yours then who does it belong to? The card could belong to someone who is friends with the owner of the couch?

I agree with putting the name into FB - see if your DH is friends with anyone by that name!

Did you get the furniture second hand? Perhaps it has fallen out. Also Google and fb the name.

Who else has access to your house - babysitters, au pair, nanny, cleaner? Any children's friends parents dropped in? Any building or decorating work been going on?

It is likely to have been trapped in the sofa and dislodged when moved. That means it could belong to anyone who has ever sat on that sofa. Doing a Facebook search on the name may yield a clue.

I don't think the OP meant the furniture wasn't hers? She was saying the card wasn't hers, it's possible just the way she structured the sentence.

We once found an odd man's sock in the house that was not DS's or DH's. Never able to work out where it came from! I did suspect it was from the wormhole where odd socks disappear into.

I have googled and facebooked the name and can't see anyone I recognise or that lives near to us. Certainly not a close neighbour.
Sorry, to clarify the furniture is ours, the card is not mine.

No visitors, we have a nanny who doesn't recognise it. I have young children but they don't recognise it either. It's not the name of the previous tenant either.
