Relationships

Depression and sex - normal or am I being used?

Lately the only contact I get is when he wants sex, he is very depressed, so I'm wondering if this is normal behaviour from someone going through depression or if I am being naïve and he is just using me?

TIA

How long have you been in a relationship, or are you just dating?

Irrespective, if the relationship isn't meeting your needs, call it off. You don't have to accept being a booty call just because he's depressed. Not unless his GP has written a prescription for sex as an anti-depressant Grin

Everyone's experience of depression is different but it's more usual to lose interest in sex when depressed.

But even without that, if he's avoiding contact with you and saying it's because he's depressed but gets in touch when he fancies his leg over I'd say there's a high chance you're being used.

Sorry.

Does he claim to be in love with you?
Because in my experience, being in love tends to temporarily counteract my subclinical depression symptoms. Being in love. Not being horny.

So no, this is not normal, and even if the depression caused him to lose interest in everything but sex, it would still be shitty behaviour to treat you this way.

Cut him off. If he threatens suicide, call an ambulance.
