Afar as in distance, or as in unrequited / you don't tell them?

I have an ex who in many ways is the one that got away. Broke up when we were young and he moved away for his job but assumed our paths would cross again (which they did as we now live in the same area). Both of us are very happily married now with children and lovely lives. Part of me still jumps when I see him and he has told me outright that he is still attracted to me and things should have been different but neither of us would be so disrespectful stupid as to wilfully build on that. So it's great to see him when I do bump into him and I'm glad he is happy and doing well but I keep him at a very safe distance. I love my husband and family more.
