How to let go?

I met someone. We've been seeing each other for a few months now. We're only a year apart in age. When we're together we have a lovely time. He ticks almost every box for me, well mannered, well educated, well travelled, stylish & good looking, good job, great sex & no previous marriage or kids. I on the other hand have baggage, I'm divorced with two late teens. I know this is a problem for him. He was talking about a friend of his recently, who had married a divorced woman who had 3 kids & he mentioned how disappointed the mans family were & how a divorced woman with kids is 'double the cost & only half the fun'. Sad Is 'LTB' my only option? I am quite sure inbetween seeing me he is still dating other women in the hope that someone better will come along. We met online & I think it's too hard for him to stop looking. Men his age (40s) ideally want someone younger & preferably never married & no kids. He is a fantastic catch, the woman who bags him will be very lucky. I'm sad because I don't think it's going to be me Sad I've dated lots of men since I got divorced & he stands head & shoulders above the others, all the others were idiots one way & another. I just want to settle down & be happy. I keep myself looking nice, very nice, but nothing is going to erase stretchmarks & make me look like a 30yo again... I feel so sad.

Oh dear, op how horrible for you. How do you know he's still dating? Are you sure this is how he thinks and not just his friend's opinion?? My experience of men you know you can't have is that it's best to walk away as soon as you can. Saves a lot of longer term heartache....

I don't know for sure that he's still dating but I think he is. We had a talk recently about moving it a little closer but it wasn't conclusive. His dating profile shows recent activity.

If he thinks that about divorced women that's pretty horrible. Did you ask him if that's his opinion? What makes you think he's still online dating? I think you just need to speak to him and explain that you aren't dating any one else and ask him if he is and if so, you can ask why. If he doesn't feel as strongly about you then it's best to part ways before you get hurt.
