I just got off the train. Youngish but not too young Irish guy opposite was on his mobile phone talking away... I barely made it back home.. The accent sounded so hot cannot describe it. Wld be interested to hear what voice turns my fellow MNs on if any..Time for a recuperative red wine in the garden. .

I live in lreland and believe me all Irish accents don't have that affect on me! But l do love the northern lreland accent. Could listen to that all day.

All Irish accents?

There's quite a range!

I live in Ireland too - because many years ago I fell in love with a man with an irresistible Irish accent Smile

I generally really find northern irish accent very attractive. But just recently I was at St.Pancras and the youngish guy next to me at a cafe counter started talking and he made some mistake and keot apologising - and the voice was OMG - he wasn't tall or especially handsome but my God, I thought, now I like the southern accent as muchg of not more than northern - he had quite a deep voice, and it works best that way! I never find Irish women's accent sexy as they chatter too fast - but he was so so charming and had undulation to his voice (though still very chatty).

Other than that, I find French sexy (unoriginal) when they soeak French, and Italian accent when they speak English Grin.

I don't get the whole sexy accent thing! It's bizarre to me Grin

I dated someone with one of the accents mentioned already and it did absolutely nothing for me. More than that, I found it quite irritating... Blush

I live the generalisation of a "southern" irish accent.
My city alone has about 6 different accents!
Big difference between a cork and a Dublin accent for example

The reference to a "southern irish" accent is quite irritating. Quite quite irritating.

Accents do differ a lot even in the same area. I can barely understand my cousin who lives 10 minutes from my mother's house, but people often ask me if I'm from.....Dublin.

I find men with a Scottish accent to be swoonsome. And as a PP mentioned, a Frenchman could say anything and I would find him delicious sexy.

There's a famous chef here called Guillaume Brahimi. He's not overly attractive but every time he opens his mouth.....

Farely and Chair I'm sure it's irritating to you but for people who haven't been much to Ireland or meet a variety of Irish speakers, how would we know which is which? It did cross my mind that there must be a variety as I didn't find Dublin accent sexy and this sounded a bit different - 'southern' is just to differentiate from Nrthern as that's too far apart.

Yes chair coz being from Dublin would be awful Hmm Are you from Meath by any chance?

I quite like the Cork accent.. Love a Scottish accent and an East London accent is very sexy

Nope, I'm from Cork. The city that calls itself the Real Capital and shakes its fist at Dublin.

Well if you would like me to be more specific, based on my limited knowledge the man who I just spent half an hour on the train fantasising about is probably originally from Tipperary/Waterford although educated at Trinity College Dublin. I think I could distinguish a Cork accent and this wasn't it. I reckon his Dad was from Mayo and his Ma from the second cottage on the Left as you turn right out of the main Limerick to Shannon road.

True. And so very charming, if the television interviews are to be believed. But a mere child at 25.

That would be Mary. She has three sons. Which one do you mean?

I love accents. The regional differences are amazing. And dialect words/phrases.

I wouldn't say I find accents sexy en masse - it depends on the person speaking. I do like a deep voice.
