How to defriend H on Facebook without causing a scene

H is such a prick
He's posting things on Facebook, designed to annoy me
I would just block/defriend him, but what I really want to do is tell my friends to delete him, without making a song and dance about it

Any suggestions?

I would think Facebook is the least of your worries

Why are you still with him if he is so vile?

PPaka Tue 22-Apr-14 08:02:53

I'm not with him, we're separated

LavenderGreen14 Tue 22-Apr-14 08:04:31

just unfriend and block then - don't live your dramas online and expect folk to take sides. Silence is your best weapon.

PPaka Tue 22-Apr-14 08:06:49

Are you not psychic?! grin

I would like to just change status to separated, but we haven't told his mum, she's poorly, and it would get back to her
It's also too attention seeking

Just unfriend and block him, tell your friends to ignore his nonsense or do the same, there's no reason to be connected via fb if you're separated

Spottybra Tue 22-Apr-14 08:08:49

How about, don't look on Facebook or delete your account? Use Instagram if you need to.

cozietoesie Tue 22-Apr-14 08:09:08

Why do you need to keep on using Facebook? You could just close your account.

PPaka Tue 22-Apr-14 08:09:28

Can I just hide him?

PPaka Tue 22-Apr-14 08:10:26

Er, I quite like Facebook. The friends/family I like update on it
Don't do Instagram

cozietoesie Tue 22-Apr-14 08:10:39

Just stop using it. The sky won't fall if you do.

Start by restricting him?

PPaka Tue 22-Apr-14 08:12:55

Erm yes, ok, I'll stop using all social media because my stbxh is being a prick

You can unsubscribe from him so he doesn't appear in newsfeed instead.

PPaka Tue 22-Apr-14 08:13:43

I just want to disassociate myself from him, he's embarrassing

Fizzybangfanny Tue 22-Apr-14 08:14:26

Just block him. It won't come up on your news feed.

AnyFucker Tue 22-Apr-14 08:15:02

Just block him. Do you live your life through your FB status ?

Change it to blank or that old attention seeking gem "it's complicated" if you must announce your marital status to others

MirandaWest Tue 22-Apr-14 08:15:33

You don't need to show your relationship status as separated - just don't have a relationship status at all.

crispyporkbelly Tue 22-Apr-14 08:15:34

I would either do a status to everyone saying 'I'm leaving fb guys' then just block him and don't really leave!

crispyporkbelly Tue 22-Apr-14 08:16:02

He'll just think you've deactivated your account

LavenderGreen14 Tue 22-Apr-14 08:16:55

so unfriend and block him then there is nothing to see or upset yourself with. Don't live the drama of your separation out online.

AnyFucker Tue 22-Apr-14 08:16:58

Just block him or use that good old fashioned attention seeking status of "it's complicated" if you feel the need go define yourself to others

AnyFucker Tue 22-Apr-14 08:17:42

Sorry for double post, I thought the first one didn't appear

FunkyBoldRibena Tue 22-Apr-14 08:21:15

I would just block/defriend him, but what I really want to do is tell my friends to delete him, without making a song and dance about it

How about:
Block him

Then leave the rest to your friends to make their own minds up.

Like Miranda says, you don't have to have a relationship status at all, just untick it. I did that and I don't think it even came up on the newsfeed.
