Can you say one thing that your DP does that is completely unnecessary but makes your day that bit better?

Mine is tea in bed. Everyday. Didn't know I liked tea that much but would really miss it if he didn't do it.

Mine is tea and toast in the morning, and he is getting into a nice habit of making me a cup of tea after night-time nookie (only took me 22 years to train him up to that level!

primrose22 · 19/02/2014 08:27

its tea here too! What makes me smile, is that he always asks 'cup of tea beautiful?' (despite me probably not looking my best after an early start and a long day with the dcs/workSmile )

ToriaPumpkin · 19/02/2014 10:59

He gets DS up when he gets up at 7 and takes him down for breakfast so I can have an extra half hour in bed and still be down on time for him to go to work.

This is especially appreciated atm as I'm 29wks pg with DC2 so sleep is the best thing ever, but he's been doing it since DS was about six months old.

Cigarettesandsmirnoff · 19/02/2014 11:01

A foot rub every night while watch tv. Heaven

sebsmummy1 · 19/02/2014 11:05

He'll change my sons poopy nappy in his suit before work Grin

He sends me texts saying 'I love you' out of the blue.

rainbowsmiles · 19/02/2014 11:06

He gets up first and gets all kids breakfasted then asks if I need anything done before he takes dog out walk or starts work.

Och loads of other stuff but that's a good start to the day.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 19/02/2014 11:07

Leaves me coffee in an insulated mug when he creeps out the door at 4.30am so it's still hot when I wake up.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 19/02/2014 11:08

Oh and he waited outside my workplace for 45 minutes last week to give me a lift home. He had finished work and it was pissing down and stupidly windy.
He didnt want my umbrella to get blown away Grin

Whatnamenext · 19/02/2014 11:09

Awwww

Well mine let himself down completely today.

No tea as he took the dog out with a raucous toddler at 7am so I didn't have to.

What a git

Aww what a sweet thread! I am a terrible sleeper and my DH always rubs my back for me to help me relax and fall asleep. This is especially sweet if I come to bed later than him; he sort of half wakes up long enough to get his hand into position and then manages a few little caresses before falling back to sleep. He does so many nice things and I feel very very lucky, but this is just the best thing ever!

WhateverTrevor83 · 19/02/2014 12:45

My DP has a really annoying ring tone on his mobile phone alarm clock. It goes up and always wakes me up. But then DP tiptoes around the room lifting things really slowly and whincing at the slightest noise thinking I've gone back to sleep. He doesn't realise I can see him and it always makes me laugh to myself. Cute. Gormless. But cute Grin .

coffeeslave · 19/02/2014 14:01

Coffee in bed every day.

Makes extra portions when he cooks, so I can take leftovers to work the next day for lunch.

Does pretty much all the cooking (we had intended to do 50:50, but I'm not complaining!!)

Doesn't let me stack the dishwasher, because that's his job & he enjoys it.

froubylou · 19/02/2014 14:05

Makes me a proper coffee and brings it to me in bed as I breastfeed our daily in bed every morning.

Bliss.

enormouse · 19/02/2014 14:25

Also breakfast related - takes toddler and baby down with him when he gets up for work, changes both of them and gives toddler his breakfast. Then makes me a cup of tea.

Brings me midnight snacks when I breastfeed and feel ravenous.

Offers a genuine, sincere opinion on things that really don't interest him (I.e. 'what do you think of these shoes?')

AprilDayGirl · 19/02/2014 14:49

Grabs my cheeks and smooches me really hard pressed of the blue and says "I fucking love you today!!"

SpottyDottie · 19/02/2014 14:53

Another one here who gets tea in bed. DH warms the cup up too just in case I'm not fully awake when he leaves it. He goes to work early. Then I get a cooked full breakfast every Sunday as i lie in bed Smile

starfishmummy · 19/02/2014 14:56

Weekdays makes a cuppa for me before he goes out. Its waiting for when I get downstairs with ds - nite usually very warm by them but very welcome!! This week because ds is on half term I get it brought to me in bed. (DH leaving so early is a new job thing).

At weekends I get tea in bed and a long lie in!

NoIamAngelaHernandez · 19/02/2014 14:59

Lets me have a lie in
Brings me tea in bed
Lights the fire
Cleans the kitchen every night
Fills up my windscreen washer
Hugs. Lots.

WhateverTrevor83 · 19/02/2014 15:02

April that's so cute! Aw!

Sad51 · 19/02/2014 15:03

He brings dc2 to me at night to save me getting up. I truly appreciate this due to feeling so tired.

He puts the bins out for collection.

However I do things for him; cooking, packing his lunch for work, budgeting, general run of the home.

Callani · 19/02/2014 15:06

We're desperate to get a dog atm but just can't for so many reasons - DP has taken to emailing me a "Dog a Day" picture to my work email every morning. It's fantastic, completely unnecessary but makes my day start with a great big smile.

kentishgirl · 19/02/2014 15:07

Cup of tea in bed as he gets up before me - funny how so many of us love this one little thing.

Had an awful day at work the other week, came home, vented for half hour, then went to soak in bath to try and chill out while he got dinner on. He also tiptoed out to the local shop and secretly bought me some flowers and chocs to cheer me up. So sweet.

He tells me he loves me every day.

He gets up with DD on the weekend and let's me lie inSmile

He is so sweet with DD making her laugh and teasing her about boyfriendsGrin it's lovely seeing their relationship Smile she's 8 now so we won't have many of the lovely dad-DD moments left until stroppy hormonal teen years!

crossupton · 19/02/2014 15:49

When he has to get up before I do, he is super quiet so as not to wajke me up.

And then just before he leaves, he assumes that I'm still asleep but still gives me the gentlest of kisses on my forehead and our son too.

The fact that he does it and thinks I don't know makes me more happy than I can say.

Also when he makes tea for me :D

nilbyname · 19/02/2014 15:59

Dh carries everything, his nickname is the Sherpa
He gets dressed in the bathroom
So as not to wake me when he is up at stupid o'clock
Makes me sushi packed lunches
Fills my car up with petrol, cleans it as well!
