Relationships

Is this really a THING that people DO???

I am in a new relationship with man I've known for a long time. Until I got together with him I never had sex on my period, and when I mentioned this to my friend she looked at me aghast, as if I was weird. I didn't think it was that common, to have sec on your period. I've clearly led a sheltered life.
Now I've relaxed into the relationship a lot and I'm now comfortable having sex on my period, which is awesome, no more crossing a week off the calendar and feeling frustrated.
ANYWAY. I have my period. Last night in bed my partner told me he wanted to go down on me. I was slightly Shock, but he was totally relaxed and serious and said "it's alright, it's called a strawberry kiss". I declined.

Is this really a thing that people do???? Strawberry kisses? Really? Hmm

Nothing shocks me any more and I'm sure there are whole websites devoted to it Hmm. As with anything else, set your own standard...

Aaah now I can't really stand to look at your username, it's horribly evocative.

I have sex while I'm on my period, though not on the first days, but just no to this. Okay, certainly nothing wrong with doing it, but, really, ew.

Yeah it's fine. If you leave your tampon or mooncup in there will be no mess. (Although I don't think tasting blood is any worse than swallowing jizz)

I think his sexual career has been limited in number of partners but pretty adventurous from things he has said. Which is absolutely fine, and I'm pretty open minded, I'll try things. But this.... Right now? No way. I am glad that the initial responses indicate that this is not a mainstream thing, I thought I was more sheltered than I realised!

I think I'm keeping the NN, my STBXH knows my original on and apparently my very recent nc too. Sorry!

Any indication that his 'sexual career' has been stimulated by dodgy websites...? Can't imagine he's picked up these references from mates down the pub.

Actually that's a good point, who tf. made up this disturbing name for it? It sounds like something Humbert Humbert would say.

Unh. When I'm on my period, I can't be bothered doing anything in bed but sleep or feel sorry for myself.

I wouldn't do it. .. But if you're comfortable with it then go ahead. If you're not, then tell him so. Don't do anything you are not comfortable with.

I don't think anyone needs a biology lesson, but the blood doesn't come out of your clitoris, does it, so...y'know.

I wouldn't indulge in the first couple of days, but after that, then fine. I don't get the ewwwww factor.

No, he's not into porn at all. I know one of his exes was into some pretty kinky stuff, and he has been with a couple of other people and I presume tried stuff with them too. His attitude is that the only boundaries in sex should be your own comfort zone and the law. So he is up for trying pretty much anything.
I've also only had a handful of sexual partners but despite my STBXH secretly watching a lot of porn, I have really been having pretty boring missionary sex since I lost my virginity.

Tbf I don't think he specifically wants to go down on me while I'm on my period. More he wants to go down on me generally speaking, and doesn't mind if I'm on my period.

I thought I could gauge wether this was a mainstream thing from asking here, and I think I have my answer. I'm not taking the piss but whatever you want to think is fine by me.
