Celebrity Crushes

I'm a long term lurker, first time poster.

Apologies in advance if this on the wrong topic forum. I did'nt know which one would be the most appropriate.

Basically, since about Christmas time I have had a on/off massive crush on someone famous. I say on/off as it kind of petered out for a while but it has over the last month flared up again. I seem to spend a lot of time googling him in an attempt to find out everything about him etc and also daydreaming about him.

I feel a bit pathetic because I am a 32 year old mother of 1 DC, not a 14 year old....

I know that it is all in my imagination etc, that its a bit silly and illogical and that if I met him in real life, he will of course be totally different to how he is in my head (as it is of course just a figment of my imagination). I just can't seem to help myself.

I thought the relationship thread might be the most appropriate place to post this as I have mentioned this crush to my counsellor (who I have been seeing for almost a year - I had an ugly separation from my child's father and also a history of shitty relationships and needed therapy big time) and she said that I should'nt beat myself up too much about having my crush because it is less about the celebrity and more about my aspiration for a happy, healthy relationship with someone.

But tbh, through out my adult life I seem to have developed sometimes quite long term crushes on people in the public eye. Perhaps unsurprisingly they always correspond to times in my life when I have felt lonely etc.

I suppose the purpose of my thread was to ask whether I am weird to have crushes like this at my age or whether other people have them too post adolescence? I can't admit to anyone in RL about this as I feel too silly and have no idea if other people do this too?

It's Peter Andre isn't it?

Ezio Mon 02-Sep-13 22:44:54

It aint Bieber is it?

Or one of those little muppets out of One Erection?

SparkyTGD Mon 02-Sep-13 22:45:34

You are definitely not alone, don't be embarrassed. Recent, long, thread that will make you feel better link here

grin

MadeMan Mon 02-Sep-13 22:45:56

It's not wierd to have crushes on anyone at any time though in my opinion. Proves you have feelings and emotions still.

Ezio Mon 02-Sep-13 22:46:45

I would actually consider it healthy expression of emotions Silver, fantasy is expression, dont feel bad about.

When you stalk the person then its an issue.

silverphotoframe Mon 02-Sep-13 23:04:07

No its not Peter Andre although it is quite a "random" one grin

I've been reading the linked thread and it has made me feel a bit better in that I am not alone with my little obsessions!

sonlypuppyfat Mon 02-Sep-13 23:06:03

I like Thom Yorke and Martin Clunes, now thats random

Ok I dated a celebrity I had had a long time crush on.
In my head he was fucking perfect.
The reality was very different and he turned out to be a total bell-end.
I dumped him.

Try and think of this guy as an ideal (because when you see him come out of the bathroom with a bit of toilet paper stuck to the end of his penis, the magic is gone for good.) Trust me. Some things are just better in the imagination.

^ Ok this bit might not happen for you, but the point I am trying to make is, the celeb you fancy is perfect in your mind, an ideal, doesn't disappoint you or let you down. A complete contrast to 'real men'. You just have to find yourself a man who gives you what you want in life.

I'm 32 and have about 5 celebrity crushes, the most intense one is on Simon Neil. The intensity varies, poor DP hmm however, I've never viewed it as strange, mainly because loads of my friends get crushes and we all have a good chat and laugh about it

SlangKing Tue 03-Sep-13 02:34:03

Think those above are "random"? At least they're human. I had it BAD for Eric Cartman's mum (luscious Leanne) for a few weeks. I'm over her now that Viva have stopped repeating South Park. I need to apologize to Maria Grazia Cuccinotta and beg her to take me back.

ItWasLightCreamCheese Tue 03-Sep-13 03:33:47

It's Mr Tumble, isn't it? grin

You are not weird or silly. Adults are allowed to have fantasies and to sometimes take time out from being a grown up by using their imagination.

Enjoy it!

TheFallenNinja Tue 03-Sep-13 04:04:19

Eric Pickles?

Chyochan Tue 03-Sep-13 11:53:45

I think its normal tbh, espicialy when real life relationships are not living up to exspectations (lets face it, thats most of the time). As long as you realise its just a mental diversion, fun way to keep boredom at bay and nothing more. We should start nameing our crushes and see who can come up with the weirdest. Also can anyone tell me what the 'd' if for, as in 'dh' 'ds' or 'dd'. Im new and cant figure out what it could stand for so thought Id ask. thx

SparkyTGD Tue 03-Sep-13 12:04:52

Glad the link has helped silver

SlangKing Cartman's Mom grin

Chyochan DD/DH stands for Dear or Darling Daughter/Husband etc see Acronyms up page below MunsnetTalk, welcome to MN.

Oh dear, just saw that link. Well I hope my embarrassing thread makes you feel better op grin

It happens to us all wink

SparkyTGD Tue 03-Sep-13 12:47:31

grin Hope you don't mind me linking TheOrchard I assumed OP had missed it (and I did post on yours too).

I'm like a moth to a flame on 'celeb crush' threads blush

Ezio Tue 03-Sep-13 12:54:51

Lucius Malfoy, damn!!!!!

And when playing Assassins Creed, i found Niccolo Machiavelli quite attractive, yes thats right........computer pixels.

Chyochan Tue 03-Sep-13 13:13:15

Lucius Malfoy...hmm well maybe, if he got down on his knees and begged me for it (would like to insert a grin face here but dont know how yet).

Ezio Tue 03-Sep-13 13:16:50

Chyochan He wouldnt have to beg me grin

look the smileys list under the text box, just type what is next to the smiley and it will come up.

Chyochan Tue 03-Sep-13 13:37:50

Thanks Ezio. 'The Hound' in Game of Thrones, I reckon I definatly would...

mines obvious and ive had my crush for over 5 years now blush grin

im 31 but feel 13 and think i shouldnt feel this way but i do and i dont think it will change. ive had various crushes throughout my life but this one is the strongest ive ever had.

i know he's not as perfect as i make him out to be in my head (almost but not quite wink ) and his wife seems very lovely (lucky cow grin )... but i also know its not real and nothing is ever going to happen.

im also married. i always joke to dh that i would leave him for dt, but you know what? i probably would wouldnt wink

RedPencils Tue 03-Sep-13 16:40:29

I've always got a couple of crushes on the go. I can get pretty 'keen' and then dump when some other eye candy catches my eye.

However we can't determine how strange it is, without you spilling! Who is it?

Ezio Tue 03-Sep-13 16:57:07

Yeah, i exposed two of mine, so get with the telling Silver
