I have ummed and ahhed over whether to do this update. Not sure why.

Anyway I have news. My Mum arrived early this for her 7 week visit and we are so far having a lovely time. We have talked a lot about my Step dad and his issue with alcohol. I feel very close to her again and she recognised she made a terrible mistake in choosing to stay with him when we needed her. I think I need to forgive and just enjoy my time with her.

My other update is regarding my test results. I got it!! Complete remission, it was such a shock I laughed and cried at the same time. We know the cancer is incurable and will be back but I don't care. Today is about living cancer free and making wonderful happy memories with my Dh and Dd. I feel incredibly lucky and blessed.

Is this the mum who found it so hard to leave your -alcoholic- stepD's side to come & support you in your time of need? I'm so glad that she has come, and is staying for such a long time, and you are close again. Thanks for updating.

Let me be the first to say I told you you were going to be fine, honey!!! Grin

There's a never ending supply of sparkly stuff here but, as you've become adept at making your own luck, I very much doubt you're going to feel the need for more any time soon.

As for your dm, in putting her alcoholic h's needs above yours she let you down at the worst possible time in the worst possible way and she's going to have to live with that.

If you can't find it in yourself to forgive her, view her weakness with compassion and let go of any lingering feelings of hurt and anger you may have clung onto so they can't mar your time together, or cast any shadow on your bright future.

Celebrate your brilliant news with your loved ones and never doubt that you are truly blessed - and always will be.
