Do you ever think about how things would be if you left your dh?

I love dh very much but we have been together for a long time and I feel that things are going nowhere. We seem to be stuck in a rut. We have two happy, healthy children who are our lives but I feel that something is missing. He doesn't mistreat me and would do anything for me. Maybe it's just me. I am really miserable most of the time and he puts up with that, although I know he finds it hard work. Just wondered if anyone else wonders what it would be like out in that big world to be a single girl again.

why do you think you are so miserable?

Have suffered with depression for a couple of years now. I sometimes wonder if dh would be happier if I left him. I have everything a girl could ask for but I'm still not happy. Lovely home, two healthy children, dh who would do anything for me.

Although I'm talking about it I probably would never leave. Couldn't do that to my children and I doubt I could find a man like dh anywhere.

I do all the time. but what would you do with the kids? you'd hardly be a "single girl" again really with all that responsiblity. What does a single girl have/do that's different?

What exactly do you think you would gain from it? would it be more than you and everyone else, who you must also consider now, would lose.

I think you have to be positive that you want to be on your own rather than with DH, rather than looking to replace him with a more exciting/romantic model. Have you ever been referred for counselling as part of the treatment for your depression? Just I think you do need to talk through what you feel is "missing" from your life.
