Emotional Shutdown

Bottled it and name changed for this Grin

For two weeks every month I go into what I can only describe as "emotional shut-down" where my partner is concerned. Obviously this goes hand in hand with my menstrual cycle. I'd rather poke sharp sticks in my eyes than have the poor man anywhere near me then once I'm a couple of days into my period I'm back to thinking my partner is the biggest sex pot ever.

Luckily enough I'm still the same with my son, but I guess that's down to a different unconditional type of love one has for their child.

Over the last couple of years my partner has learnt to accept this, bless him.

Does anyone else do this?

Yes I'm nearly 42

When I'm in this 'phase' I want my own room, or even better, my own flat

but it's so true. I just feel absolute zilch for him, I even think I can't stand him and want to end the relationship. I tried taking anti D's but that made me an emotional vacuum all month!

Same here puffy, the light goes out then, click, it's back. I'd like to not be so extreme but am scared that any substance I put in my body will just make everything "dull". Then I will loose the "me" I have for two weeks if that makes any sense?

Tbh Evangelica, I've just started taking it, so I'm hoping to see a difference this month. I realised I was getting very upset about things that didn't matter too much, and that it was happening from about a week before my period. Luckily I don't have a partner! Thought it was worth a try. The one I've got has to be taken 3 times a day, it's from holland and barret, don't know if it will work yet, but I've been taking it religiously.

Fingers cross ay procrastinatewildly ay. I never thought I was capable of the sheer split personality that occurs. It's so Sad and hellish for my partner. But there really is NO reasoning with me then. This valentines the poor bloke bought me a card full of wonderful words, flowers and a big cuddly dog (very unlike him and not my thing) instead of thanking him I told him I was insulted. I said "did you ACTUALLY read the card! and as for the bloody dog, what on earth was you thinking!

How cruel is that, but I thought I was sooo right and justified for a week!
