Should i try Online Dating?

Ok, i know there are threads on here about this already but i'm new to all this and need some guidance from you lovely mn.
having never done online dating (or any other dating for 17 years) i don't really know where to start.
i've looked at zoosk, but heard it could be a scam and that they just take money from your account without warning...anyone else tried zoosk?
i've avoided PoF as i've heard so many horror stories about weirdos on there!!
i'm not yet ready to do face to face dating and thought online might ease me into it gently. any advice would be great!

I went onto Smooch.com after i finished with my first husband as i had been out of the dating scene for some time.
