Did your DH have a mid-life crisis? How long did it last? Did you?

I think my dh has been having an MLC for about 10 years (since shortly before we met, probably).

If it's going to take another 10 to resolve, I'm actually not sure I can cope.

I guess mine lasted about 12 years, from leaving my first husband to completing retraining. I could deal with another 2 years I think.

My DH is in the midst of his - it's been going on for about 3 - 3.5 years. I bought him a really good book - Men Navigating Midlife by Robyn Vickers-Wills - has he read it, has he fuck Hmm.

Can't see an end in sight to his, but I know they can take 10-15 years. Wish he'd hurry up, I might want to have mine!

How have your midlife crises manifested themselves? Think I might be having one. Been going on for about 9 months; not sure I can take it for 10 years as it's very intense and strange.

Mrsg - put simply it's the bridge between the first half of your life (when you are pretty much a product of your upbringing) to the second half - where you become your own person. The author of the book above suggests that our use of the term 'crisis' tends to belittle it and make you think short term. It Dan manifest itself in many ways - change of career, change of partner, depression & anxiety. I think Robyn Vickers-Willis has a website about midlife actually, will see if I can find it.

Yeah mine's started his MLC at age 45. He started the affair about 18 months ago, has now moved out, is spending a shed load of money on entertaining madam, fancy new very expensive car, new hi fi, expensive furniture, off skiiing with DS at half term (he hates skiiing). Hope he falls off the mountain.

It is a mid life crisis combined with anger issues and depression. I've thrown him out so dont really care how long it goes on for. Sounds a good book.
