Doc told me that I need to be circumcised. Anyone been through this? Women's opinions?

I've got no choice, and I've accepted it, though I'm obviously not thrilled. Perhaps unusually, I'm less scared about the operation than I'm worried about what women are going to make of 'things' afterwards. Do women find it offputting? I'm concerned it'll make functioning worse, if you gather my meaning.

I'm trying not to think of the pain! Wish me luck!

(PM me if this is too personal; I'm sorry if you didn't wish to read this over your breakfast cereal...)

Why has the doctor said you need this?

Pain for a few days and he found boxers uncomfortable and now wears tighter pants

I'm guessing that you are a woman.

In that case, no, it is not off-putting. All Muslims, Jews, and the vast majority of Americans are all circumcised.

I don't know anyone who was circumcised as an adult but most men I know, including family members, are all circumcised and I have never heard of functional problems.

MAN! I'm guessing you are a man!

This auto-correct is my nemesis!

An ex p of mine had this a child. He had bad scarring and reduced sensitivity leading to erectile problems. It wasn't fun.

Cote, I sat squinting at your post for 5 minutes trying to make sense of it :o

Grin cote.

I think you'll find most women don't care.

We are so used to either!

HecateGoddessOfTheNight · 07/11/2011 07:58

erm. Hmm I think perhaps that gave the wrong impression Blush

I mean that both varieties are common so it won't be thought anything of.

It will be fine.

at Hecate's 'any old cock' line Grin

I agree, most women won't worry either way.

some women prefer it - can see straight away if it looks clean! really not an issue

Have had partners in the past who were. Makes no difference whatsoever. The usual complaints about sex from a womans viewpoint apply or dont, regardless.

Report
Note2Self · 07/11/2011 08:41

I have had experience of both and it has made absolutely no difference and I have no preference.

Yes. What makes sex good for a woman has not as much to do with foreskin as it does to do with what's hanging off the other end of the penis...

worldgonecrazy · 07/11/2011 08:57

I have had both types of partners and in my experience the circumcised were better lovers, but that is probably because they were just better at it, nothing to do with their willies.

I had a friend who always said she would only be interested in people who were circumcised (don't ask me how she broached that one!)

My husband is circumcised and plans to have our son 'done' when he is born.

I prefer it but that might be a bias because I've been with my husband or 10 years and it seems right! But also thinking back on previous partners there was only one who wasn't circumcised (and I'm a white british christian rather than from a culture/religion where it is considered usual so perhaps that makes you feel less like a fish out of water).

My DH was for medical reasons before we met. I didn't even realise until he asked it if bothered me! It really makes no difference to the woman in the general case, and I suspect if its to resolve a medical problem it may well help.

Grin at any old cock, hectate you go girl.

Again, why exactly does the doctor recommend this?

MyNameIsLola · 07/11/2011 14:06

My ex was circumcised, I never gave it a second thought. It made no difference to how sex felt for him or for me.

I highly doubt that the average woman would care.

Shakey1500 · 07/11/2011 14:10

Dh had it done aged around 35. Prepare for initial discomfort and definitely discourage any nearby 3 year olds from launching themselves at you in delight at your return Grin

It makes no odds to me looks/performance wise.

I prefer the look of a circumcised penis. Though, as I'm unlikely to be looking at yours, the information's totally irrelevant Grin

senorita Shock

why on earth would your husband plan to do it to a baby without even knowing if there is a medical need for it? are you going to agree to it?

I think I speak for all of here when I say, as a woman, we'd just be grateful.
