Of course it's possible...they would have told you that when fitting you.

I've had a coil for around 8yrs and not fallen pregnant.

My friend had a coil and did.

Why not do a pregnancy test and put your mind at rest one way or another? The nausea and tiredness could be the change in weather....heating etc.

My mum. Otherwise I wouldn't be here. The coil just vanished.

It's not what you want to hear but a very good friend of mine fell pregnant with identical twins while using the coil

Didn't want to read and run, no contraception is 100%
If it helps I thought I was pregnant with the implant six months after having it put in, turns out I wasn't!

And if your Husband would 'go mental' perhaps he should have thought about wearing a condom to make double sure....oh and he might have Googled and read up on the coil.

I also have a coil and feel like shit, it's just the time of year. It's my cold making me feel nauseus.

Is possible yes. High risk of ectopic or miscarraige tho.

What sort do you have ? It may just be hormones tricking you.

I had a coil and got pregnant. Or at least I thought I had a coil. Turns out I didn't ...

copper...

Satsuma I hope you are right.

Think I will buy a test on the way home tonight....the more I am worrying about it the worse I feel so probably just sick with worry rather than anything else, let's hope so.

I know three woman who fell pregnant when using coils - fitted by different people and they were different types of coils.

I also know another woman on the hormone based coil who said she felt pregnant for the first few months - turned out not to be.

I 've had a mirena for 15 years and not got preggers.

These people who lost their coil - where did it go? Surely you'd have seen it in your pants or in the loo or somewhere?

That should have been: Sorry.
If DH was that desperate not to have more he should have had the snip.

MrsOzz · 03/11/2011 13:42

With a copper coil, you should still have a cycle as it's hormone free. Only the hormone-releasing mirena will affect your periods.

Are you late?

I know of two ladies who did, both after having a new one fitted, and both having had their previous ones for years with no pregnancies. Do they not provide spermicides to use at high risk times during the month?

You'd think so, wouldn't you. But no. I even had a scan to see if it had ended up somewhere it shouldn't!

My cousin was another one who came out holding the coil.

There have been quite a few pregnancies on my mother's side of the family in women who have had copper coils fitted. My mum always told me to avoid them

Yes my Aunty's 4th DC was conceived despite being on the coil, and another friend had an ectopic whilst having one (though not sure whether it would be able to prevent this anyway as it just stops implantation anyway, is this right?)

Anyway, I wouldn't have one because of that
