But get crazy cravings... I have a real sweet tooth

Me too, am determined to crack my spiralling sugar addiction.
Have made do this evening with a tiny bowl of dry muesli (chock full of dried fruit which is incredibly sweet, but still better than the slab of chocolate I really fancied).
If you don't consider dried fruit 'cheating' I love medjool dates or any other dried fruit for a sweet treat.
Handful of nuts and raisins.
Frozen blueberries / grapes.

Ah, recipes. Well, there's this: Low-fat banana muffins. It has half a cup of sugar, which you could probably exchange for a third a cup of honey.
I had seven pieces of popcorn tonight, stolen from dd1's Christmas stash. Not sugar free but I was v proud of myself for stopping at 7!
Really I'm just marking my place because I want to steal any ideas you get.

Yes, looking for recipes... am not opposed to dried fruit at all (am not banning sugar in a purist kind of way, more in a trying to stop eating a load of shit kind of way)
So fruit and nuts etc are on the snack list
But I want something I can ENJOY
and trick myself into believing is sweet and pudding like

Really can't stand bananas, unfortunately... can't enjoy a smoothie because of my loathing of them!
Roast pineapple & cinnamon. Slice up a pineapple, sprinkle with cinnamon & roast at 200 for about 15-20 minutes. Delicious. You can sprinkle some sweetener on if you're allowed that.
Greek yoghurt with a spoonful of honey is nice - but it is even better with a big squeeze of lemon and a spoonful of lemon curd!

I grate a carrot and apple together into a bowl - The apple gives it a sweetness

There are some other sugar-free recipes in the MN recipe finder - just search for sugar-free.
Natural yog, muesli and tin of blackberries in own juice all stirred together. Delish!
Can use different fruits obviously - tinned rhubarb is nice 
Plain popcorn is a brilliant low fat, low cal, sugar free snack as well. Feels very naughty too!

Are you happy to have sweetner? If so then Hartley's sugar free jelly is pretty good especially if you add in fresh fruit and a little bit of cream.

If you want to really kick sugar have a read of this on sugar addiction.
I tried for years to cut down, by doing as you are suggesting replacing 'sugar' with 'natural sugar' however it is all just sugar and will keep you craving and craving and craving.
Even carrots are actually really high in sugar and will make your blood sugar spike.
Oh and I am now totally sugar free btw

have given up for ages before - and am doing so again. Just would like something to eat now and again that satisfies a 'sweet tooth' moment (when i have PMT, essentially)
i just like not eating crap - i don;t need to lose weight or anything, i just want to stop eating 3/4 packet of biscuits when 1 or 2 will do! thing is, i can't just eat 1 or 2 (confectionary a bit like fags for me - and gave them up yrs ago!)

I make scones, cup cakes and muffins with half the amount of sugar in the recipe. They taste a bit bland at first but you soon get used to them and find the shop ones far too sweet! It's just a matter of getting your tastebuds used to less sugar. Also, try and have smaller portions of chocolate, etc. Honey, syrup, fruit and sweeteners are still sugar and have the same effect as regular sugar.
I started a low carb diet one year ago. I lost about 18 pounds and it has stayed off! The secret is SLOW RELEASE carbs- I cut out rice, pasta, bread, flour and bread from my main diet, allowing myself ONE treat per evening as a reward. Very gradually I stopped craving sweet things, I allow myself very dark (85% cocoa) chocolate as this is good for you. Since boosting my veg intake (instead of rice etc) my health and well being have gone through the roof. I feel and look years younger and my skin is clear of decades of eczema! You won't regret it - buy a Low Carb diet book-charity shops are full of them or the internet.8oz Ground almonds,2 eggs, sweetener to taste-bake like bread in greaseproof paper +tin for 20 minutes cool then slice. Have instead of bread.
I try not to eat refined sugar or processed sugary crap. You can make your own chocolate or chocolate treats, using agave nectar. You can google for recipes, but it's basically cocoa powder ( I use raw cacao powder ), coconut oil and or cacao butter and agave nectar, all melted together and then put in moulds and set in the fridge. I sometimes add ground almonds. If you want it hard, just use cacao butter, but for a softer squidgier texture use coconut oil or a mixture of both.
If I'm in a hurry, I mix up some ground almonds with honey, which really satisfies my sweet tooth.
I know it's all sugar, but processed sugar really effects my health, I literally have a hangover the next day, where as my body can tolerate honey and agave nectar ( which you can buy in most supermarkets ).
I agree with Sephora, it's all about getting used to things without sugar in it.
My dad cant believe I never ever add salt to anything, even when I'm cooking. It;s just a case of getting used to it.
And I remember the first time I tried Diet Coke - I thought it was the most vile thing I'd ever tried. But now I can't stand regular Coke.
Do you like bananas? Put a peeled banana wrapped in foil into the oven and bake it. It goes all gooey and sticky and almost syrupy. Or stick it in the microwave for 30 seconds, maybe? Then pour over a little sugar-free custard. Amazing.
