Ooooooh! Paul is a stalker!

it's been a long time coming....

Who is Celia?

FrauMoose Tue 02-Apr-13 19:18:57

If it is I regret having put better speakers on my PC. The sound effects with Lillian were gross and put me off my linguine.

NigellaTufnel Tue 02-Apr-13 19:25:43

Indeed. I missed any Lillian sound effects, was that last week?

FrauMoose Tue 02-Apr-13 19:27:58

Only indeterminate smoochy noises amid conversation of made-up breakfast meetings. But it was not pleasant. Such a relief to hear Pat offering Tony a cup of tea. That's the sort of exciting radio I like!

cleangreens Tue 02-Apr-13 19:29:22

Missed tonights! Wasn't Celia the woman in the red coat at Cheltenham station that day Paul and Lillian could only meet for an hour or so? She was very irritating and Lillian had to pretend that her and Paul were brother and sister?

500calories Tue 02-Apr-13 19:31:26

I came on here to see who else had heard tonight's episode. Seems a bit out of the blue to me, although I can believe it of his character. I'm sure there will be more to it; I wonder how long they will drag it out for.

Also how long for Brenda and Tom to keep arguing? They are both irritating me now.

500calories Tue 02-Apr-13 19:33:25

I don't think it was that woman from the station.... tho I could be wrong.

IndridCold Tue 02-Apr-13 19:43:30

Surely Celia is Paul's ex? That's what I assumed anyway.

The sooner Paul and Lilian stop smooching the better. A bit of light stalking will be much more palatable.

Pollykitten Tue 02-Apr-13 19:46:02

my DH spotted Paul's stalker tendencies a couple of weeks ago and I was very dismissive... unbelieeeeeevable! Ugh to bed noises from those two.

I hope Brenda pokes Tom very hard with a sausage and then gives herself a slap.

NigellaTufnel Tue 02-Apr-13 19:50:56

So, Paul is going to go a bit mental and persecute Lillian? Maybe a hostage situation over the May Bank holiday?

NigellaTufnel Tue 02-Apr-13 19:51:48

I give Brenda and the Sausage King a week

R4 Tue 02-Apr-13 20:08:54

My mind jumped to Cheltenham too, because of Celia Johnson. The annoying woman was, however, called Connie.

I've done a quick google and I think Celia might be Anita Dobson.

Brenda needs to chuck Tom & tell Lillian to stick her job where the sun don't shine!

Never used to like her but she's bonded so well with Vicky now over her little sister, really shown her integrity. Tom is unbelievably awful. Lillian is so self-absorbed, bound to come a cropper soon. I thought she'd be a good judge of character tho - seems not, if tonight's episode is anything to go by!

And as for Pip, she gives me the bloody pip angry!

Must be his ex-wife, BBC Archers page has an interview and then a 'click here to find out more about Celia Morgan' link.

I was sure that Paul had psycho tendencies, perhaps he will kidnap Brenda and use her as a decoy! Her days in the office will just get worse.

Cooroo Wed 03-Apr-13 19:28:05

This feels contrived. I don't think, when Paul was first introduced, he was going to be a psycho. He was a 'nice' alternative to Matt, and a dilemma for Lillian. Mind you he's got creepier and creepier since he reappeared, so I suppose I should have seen this coming.

Too much melodrama. I sort of enjoy it on one level, but like Fraumoose above, am more intrigued by Peggy's reaction to Lillian buying decent biccies instead of the stale old ginger nuts in the village shop.

AlisonM1971 Wed 03-Apr-13 21:35:54

Would so love it if Brenda did get kidnaped

NetworkGuy Thu 04-Apr-13 11:04:57

Kidnapping Brenda - how bizarre - and what would the 'ransom' be - not 500 kg of Tom Archer Sausages, nor 1000 pints of milk, so why, actually would anyone ransom her ?

If it was CSI, she'd turn out to have been working on the sly in Birmingham (not Leicester where she said she was) as a wicked Dominatrix and have a little black book, with Matt, some MPs, and Brian listed, but this is blasted Ambridge for goodness sake smile

She'd disguise her voice, tell them to kneel and give some nasty lashes with a whip to their back and legs and just signify "zipped lips" if they said anything so they'd know to shut up or get a severe whipping!

Can think of all sorts of nastiness for Matt on the wrong end of a strap-on, and Brenda wearing stilettos to stamp on Brian's privates (they're the only two from Ambridge who go off at regular intervals for "business" meetings, so could easily have managed to get away when Brenda was out of the village)

Of course they didn't know that it was Brenda behind the fancy mask, feather head-dress, and would not recognise her with such a tight waist in her corset, with boobs almost spilling out! She could take hundreds in cash fro those two alone, and has a secret deposit account Tom knows nothing about, so she can depart to a life in a luxury penthouse with a few naughty male clients paying her for their kicks, but not getting any sex at all...

IndridCold Thu 04-Apr-13 12:36:00

Wow! Cool it NetworkGuy, or I'll have to ask nurse to increase your medication grin.

NigellaTufnel Thu 04-Apr-13 12:50:49

I reckon it's Lillian that Paul will kidnap. Defo.

GrendelsMum Thu 04-Apr-13 16:39:54

I loved the ludicrous conversations about biscuits - and the way that Tony would clearly much rather eat M&S chocolate and ginger cookies than stale ones from the village shop.

PrincessFiorimonde Thu 04-Apr-13 22:54:41

Oh! I said on another thread a while back that the Angie character might turn out to be Paul's ex. I think that's the first time I've ever predicted anything correctly on the Archers.

I can't bear the Paul n Lilian plot.

CuttedUpPear Fri 05-Apr-13 08:15:13

I love the Paul n Lillian plot now it's going all wrong. I knew there was something up with Paul from the outset and said so on a thread here I think...

[should have been a private dick]

TallGiraffe Fri 05-Apr-13 09:28:39

I think Brenda's going to have to save Lillian from a nasty situation.

lljkk Fri 05-Apr-13 09:37:17

I love Bitchy Brenda. She is now my number one fave character. I'd love to see her take on the world.
Used to love Lilian when she was bitchy, too. Now just meh.

R4 Fri 05-Apr-13 09:47:30

I love the idea of Brenda having to save Lillian but I think that the Celia thing is going to be a bit disappointing. Didn't Anita say she only recorded six episodes - can't see too much SATTC in that timescale.

I think that Tony got excited about the biscuits because Pat has had him on a diet of tofu and lentils since the heart attack.grin

GrendelsMum Fri 05-Apr-13 13:35:37

Brenda saving Lilian from crazed stalker Paul would be great, especially if at the same time she could throw a screaming hissy fit about Tom's sausages.

NigellaTufnel Fri 05-Apr-13 19:19:13

It took less than a week for the Sausage King to lose his Queen.
Damn! Off in timings...

GrendelsMum Fri 05-Apr-13 20:11:27

It was quite sad when Tom, alone without even the cows to keep him company, sat down at the farm desk and sobbed.

CuttedUpPear Sat 06-Apr-13 00:14:43

Just listened on iplayer after reading this thread.

Brenda was a bit gloopy. I'd hoped she'd leave in a blaze of sausage related insults and not wistful sentimentality.

Welovegrapes Sat 06-Apr-13 00:29:02

DH talked through the crucial moment grin

Not surprised she was fed up of Tom.

OliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 06-Apr-13 08:19:08

BTW have I told you my theory that it is going to be AMY who discovers Lilan and Paul - her new flat also has AMAZING views of the cathedral and is SO centrally located in Felpersham....
Reckon its in the same block/building.

Well done Nigella - was almost sad for Tom too but haven't they been engaged for AEONS - surely he would have whisked her up the aisle if he had the whole future all mapped out....

seeker Sat 06-Apr-13 08:27:02

And of course Brenda is leaving, not because Tom is a self absorbed emotionally stunted arse who treats her like shit, but because she's not really a proper woman and he needs the chance to find someone who'll give him the family he deserves.

lljkk Sat 06-Apr-13 09:20:50

Good call re Amy, Olivia.

seeker Sat 06-Apr-13 09:28:34

Oh shit- I've just realised. Tom's going to commit suicide isn't he? Then we'll all be sorry.

lljkk Sat 06-Apr-13 10:08:16

I like Tom, so much get up and go. I think his parents are fusty idealogues stuck in their ways & don't recognise that he needs room to forge his own way (like they did, ironically!!). Poor lad always in the shadow of favoured eulogised big brother, too.

CuttedUpPear Sat 06-Apr-13 10:22:07

I thought the portrait of Brenda as self-knowing, non-child-wanting, selfless paragon of altruism was a bit out of character. Or have I missed huge chucks of TA where she discusses her non-need for children with her stepmum or someone?

Btw Olivia I like your theory of Amy finding Lillian n Paul out. It will fit very well with her only recently recovering from being done the dirty by that weird married bloke she was involved with. She will lose the plot completely!

HumphreyCobbler Sat 06-Apr-13 10:29:39

Lord, I had better go and catch up on what has been happening then..

R4 Sat 06-Apr-13 10:45:17

It's been quite a week for relationships!
I missed the end of Thursday's ep so I went back and listened again. It was quite poignant to hear Chris and Alice communicating and giving equal weight to their careers versus Tom the Sausage King assuming that doormat Brenda will go along with his mapped-out view of The Future. I hope that she now does an Alice and leaves Ambridge for a more interesting job. She can come back in twenty years' time, filthy rich and worldly, to be the new Lillian.
No-one has mentioned Lizzie and Iftikar - the romance that never was.

HumphreyCobbler Sat 06-Apr-13 11:20:11

I am slightly hmm about Pat banging on about how brilliant the cows are. When does she ever do the milking?

seeker Sat 06-Apr-13 11:21:15

You know, I hadn't thought of that! Why doesn't Pat ever do the milking?

HumphreyCobbler Sat 06-Apr-13 11:23:10

I actually feel momentarily sorry for Tom.

OliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 06-Apr-13 13:21:34

YY Iftikar and Elizabeth -
"well. this is awkward."

And the "move closer" deodorant advert muzak in the background

ppeatfruit Sat 06-Apr-13 13:53:58

OOOh cuttedup you DID forecast that Paul was trouble with a capital T well done grin

IMO Lilian gets what she deserves (she's being so vile to Brenda) mixed up with 2 shitty brothers now!!

sad about Lizzie and Ifti its about time she had a bit of nookie grin

The Ifti Elizabeth embrace made me want to leap out of the car and away from the radio, was so urgh like watching your parents get it on!

And Paul - is he an abuser?

CuttedUpPear Tue 09-Apr-13 22:55:04

I have the same mobile ringtone as Mr Grumpyboots Paul.

ppeatfruit Wed 10-Apr-13 15:17:22

So now Lil 's walked out on manic controller Paul what next eh? S'funny they've only just showed him to be a depressive compulsive loon isn't it?

CuttedUpPear Wed 10-Apr-13 16:40:34

I knew it all along, see some previous thread that I can't be arsed to link to but I said it a few months ago - he's Not Quite Right!

Can't wait for next instalment of PaulAngieLillianGate

ppeatfruit Wed 10-Apr-13 16:46:35

I know I remember you saying it grin Cos I thought he sounded okay. Yes its going to be a bumpy ride I reckon. Interesting that both brothers are screwed up.

Panzee Wed 10-Apr-13 16:48:42

What happened last night? Heard something about ham and he had a monotone voice. Missed the rest.

ppeatfruit Wed 10-Apr-13 16:55:33

Well Paul had been on the phone to his DCs trying to stop them going to his ex's wedding and Celia rang him on the train to tell him to eff off. So he was very down when Lil and he were together (obviously mulling over his ex's wedding and being rude and unpleasant to Lil) who eventually had enough and walked out on him!!!shock

Panzee Wed 10-Apr-13 17:37:55

Thanks. Does this mean they've split up or is she just in a mood?

I know some of you spotted Paul being a creep earlier but I just thought he was a sap. This has taken me rather by surprise.
Matt will have to fight him.

CuttedUpPear Thu 11-Apr-13 00:50:58

The ham was not naice! Paul in a grump. Lillian bemused then stropped off.

ppeatfruit Thu 11-Apr-13 08:52:19

Panzee I don't know maybe you heard last night ? 'cos I listen at 3p.m. (I'm in France ATM) hence the later hour.

R4 Thu 11-Apr-13 09:06:31

Does this mean they've split up or is she just in a mood?

To be fair, it was him that was in the mood and she got fed up of trying to jolly him out of it. I doubt that they have split up which means ... <cringes> ... we are going to have to suffer the sound effects of 'the best part of breaking up, is making up'. yuk.

ppeatfruit Thu 11-Apr-13 09:20:51

Yes R4 because now they have a flat 'together' Paul will practise the emotional blackmail (he;s so good at with Celia) on her to get her back.

But IMO he can't be completely deranged grin. How could he hold down a responsible job and be seen as a good boss if he was?

PrincessFiorimonde Thu 11-Apr-13 10:27:39

[anticipatory horror] at "the sound effects of 'the best part of breaking up, is making up'".

ppeatfruit Thu 11-Apr-13 11:29:50

OMG PrincessF !!

HearMyRoar Thu 11-Apr-13 20:04:02

ppeat you clearly have not met some of my ex-bosses. Deranged doesn't even come close grin

ppeatfruit Thu 11-Apr-13 21:17:46

But you can't have thought they were 'good bosses' HearMy? Although come to think of it Darrell was the one who said it grin

choccyp1g Thu 11-Apr-13 22:04:49

PPeatfruitBut that's the point about so many abusers; they seem completely normal to everyone except their victims.

ppeatfruit Fri 12-Apr-13 08:51:08

Oh I'm not so sure choccy IMO and E you can usually tell; they tend to 'slip up' at some time or another.

ppeatfruit Fri 12-Apr-13 14:29:14

OMG more heartache: the pain of Lil and Paul is dragging on as is the pain of Tom and Bren. why doesn't she look for another job and move out? confused.

PrincessFiorimonde Wed 24-Apr-13 22:38:23

So - Paul's a horror. All that stuff on the phone with his ex, and now he's having a go at Lilian.

But what's Lilian thinking of? She's supposed to be a strong person, yet she's been all melty with him. Hope she'll kick him in to touch now.

<madly over-thinking>
