Did anyone think that they might reconise the voice ? (although they all sound the same at times), and, Ive still got a feeling Darrell has got something to do with all this grin, makes a change from moany Amy though, shes worse than Pip.

blackeyedsusan Sat 19-May-12 12:25:31

ooo i have missed something.

<wonders if I can be bothered to listen again>

which episode?

dontagreewithit Sat 19-May-12 23:47:14

I thought it sounded like Darrell, too. Not sure what the point of that story would be though...

Ponders Sun 20-May-12 00:31:09

it sounded like Cloive too - or any other Horrobin - or any one of a number of local oiks who have flitted through - they do all sound the same!

IndridCold Sun 20-May-12 11:32:56

Whoever it was they deserve a medal for preventing Ruth and David getting jiggy grin.

blackeyedsusan Sun 20-May-12 13:28:53

could have been a Horrobin. though there was a suspiciously large amount of darrel talking in the previous episodes...

MrsWembley Tue 22-May-12 12:11:32

Oh, I've missed a episode or two.sad

Heard the phone call, etc. (agree about the medal, I was listening with a cat's bum mouth), but where did this neighbour of Tom's come from and why does his girlfriend sound familiar?

Songbird Tue 22-May-12 12:21:41

His wife (I think they're married) is Elona, Jack's carer at the home. Peggy wangled them discounted rent in the cottage as she wanted Elona to stay. Darrell's just come out of prison IIRC. I hope we're being led up the (immaculate) garden path with Darrell - it's too obvious!

On other matters, Usha needs to grow a pair and Amy needs to grow up!

Moodykat Tue 22-May-12 12:24:23

Oh I agree Songbird. Amy is making me very cross at the moment. Mind you, so is Alan!

dontagreewithit Tue 22-May-12 13:22:24

I can't work out whether they called the police after the first phone call. Why on earth wouldn't they? They talked about it after the mysterious moving newspaper incident, but no mention (unless I missed something) after the phone call.

They are such upstanding citizens, and not residents of Coronation Street who let loan sharks bully them without involving the police. It makes no sense.

dontagreewithit Tue 22-May-12 13:23:39

Oh, and yes, agree 100% about Usha / Alan / Amy thing. Amy is being a spoilt brat, and Alan is pandering to her. And yes, I understand, she lost her mum when she was young, he was all she had, blahdeblah de blah.

Acekicker Tue 22-May-12 22:45:06

The Usha/Alan/Amy thing is driving me crackers - so much monotoned misery! It's also one of those irritating inconsistencies they've managed to get between Ambridge Extra and The Archers - in AE Usha was all chippy and 'wicked step-mother' about Saint Catherine and how she was ruining her relationship with Alan and Amy and now she's apparently devastated at Amy not wanting to be around her.

I've hoped all along that they don't go for the obvious with Elona and Darrell and really hope this isn't where they're going. Plus would anyone miss Pip/Josh/Ben if they all wound up in the slurry pit grin.

Also - where is all the Ifty stuff going - he's getting lots of mentions and there was the painful scene with Nic and other women fawning all over him; there's also a suspicous number of references to the girls cricket team...again it seems so clunkingly obvious if they're going to go down the 'he was just correcting my batting stance' route with him.

And finally....having caught up on about a month's worth of Archers in the last couple of weeks, am I the only one who is getting hints of all possibly not being well with Will and Nic (at one stage a couple of years ago I genuinely thought they might be going down a DV storyline as Will was so stroppy about her working but nothing came of it). All that business about her getting ready to work in the bar and changing because she was worried she looked too nice...

MrsWembley Wed 23-May-12 19:45:16

Thank-you for the info re Darrell, though the woman sounded like Jack's carer. She's too nice to be caught up with a wrong'un, surely?confused

But again - Ifty?blush

PrincessFiorimonde Mon 28-May-12 23:38:06

I didn't think the voice on the phone sounded like Darrell, but I am pretty bad at this sort of thing.

As for Ifty - umm, don't know. Can't he just go on to develop a relationship with someone like Fallon (there's a gal with an unhappy track record in lurve)?

MrsWembley Thu 31-May-12 19:09:01

Sorry - who?sad

heronsfly Thu 31-May-12 19:39:08

I still think Fallon will end up with Jazzer grin.
Im also unsure as to who Ifty is, and where he has popped up from.

Acekicker Thu 31-May-12 22:11:06

Ifty has been shipped in to help with cricket coaching as the other coaches were very busy/too shit at cricket. He's been a big hit with the ladies of Ambridge and is telling the gents of the cricket team how crap they all are. He's getting too much airtime to be an utterly pointless character so there must be a plotline brewing somewhere...

carocaro Fri 01-Jun-12 12:40:49

Usha shouted at Amy - hooray!

And Daeveed & Ruth were very laid back about the threats I thought; Ruth with just two sheepdogs to protect her!

No Will & Nic are fine, she's decided she want him to get her up the duff.

I miss Tiger and Pusscat and all their plotting, gin and ciggies, and Jazzer too, he needs a decent storyline that does not involved pigs or beer.

Too much Tom, always on about how busy he is, so what, get on with it.

And who is in the cottage on the green that put yellow flowers in their garden sending Linda into a spin as it was not the required red, white and blue colourscheme? How many cottages are they exactly on the green?

Best moment ever recently was Brain finding Adam and Ian in their hot tub in the afternoon, he was very embarrassed, good stuff!

heronsfly Fri 01-Jun-12 14:39:15

I also wondered about the yellow flowers, and how could Linda possibly not know who lives there ? .

Acekicker Fri 01-Jun-12 15:54:32

Was I the only one who imagined 'Pusscat' swigging back a G&T and dropping fag ash (when Peggy wasn't looking) in the cake mix the other day grin.

I did love Chris' shocked 'you don't think they're Republicans do you?' in the same tones the rest of the world would have reserved for discovering a neighbour was a mass murderer crown.

AdventuresWithVoles Fri 01-Jun-12 16:13:06

I thought Iftie was a long overdue first ever Muslim character?

Must admit I will think it ridiculous & PC if Ifty twigs but happily accepts Adam+Ian are married. Would be very brave if TA took on widespread Muslim prejudice against gays. Unless Iftie turns out to be a gay (Muslim) man, too. Now that WOULD be brave.

AdventuresWithVoles Fri 01-Jun-12 16:13:56

Ooh, how did I miss crown!? For what grand purpose can I next use it? smile

Acekicker Fri 01-Jun-12 16:46:44

grin - I've been trying to shoehorn it in too - I figured that was the most appropriate place!

Ifty doesn't live in Ambridge though - they'll need to find a reason to keep him in once the cricket season ends, assuming they don't go for endless stories built around Winter nets!

mummytime Sat 02-Jun-12 17:41:04

Chris's reaction seemed very realistic to me. We sold our old house to a nice gay couple, that didn't shock the neighbours, but they were very shocked when they displayed a labour poster.

PrincessFiorimonde Sat 02-Jun-12 17:53:13

Re: the yellow flowers - I think someone in that episode (Jim?) said the house was lived in by a couple who 'commute to work'. Have never heard of such a thing on the Archers before. shock

I hadn't thought about Ifty being Muslim, but I suppose he might be. Can't really see this being made in to a Muslim vs. gay couple thing, though: too controversial, I think. There again, I'm no good at second-guessing the Archers (or anything else, really.)

ppeatfruit Sun 03-Jun-12 20:07:00

We haven't heard from Fallon for a long time have we? I reckon she'll get together with Ifty and they'll move abroad to write them out cleverly!

Is it me or are the SWs hung up on cakes and the problems with them, yawn.Clarrie is not usually neurotic about anything is she?

seeker Tue 12-Jun-12 23:33:11

It just sounds like a random Archer's common person to me. Could be any of them!

MrsWembley Fri 15-Jun-12 19:17:10

Anybody else feel like there should have been an Eastenders style 'duff duff' at the end of tonight's episode?

dontagreewithit Fri 15-Jun-12 22:55:54

I thought that. Whenever anyone in a soap makes a statement like "everything is going to be perfect" or "it's going to be a day to remember" you know something terrible is about to happen.

And the looking at the photos of the beautiful Brookfield. It's surely going to be razed to the ground....

MrsWembley Fri 06-Jul-12 19:12:02

Ok, again with the 'so wonderful about Adam' and 'you're getting on so well with him now' between Jennifer and Brian...

He's going, isn't he!sad

HumphreyCobbler Fri 06-Jul-12 19:14:26

arghh, what happened?

HumphreyCobbler Fri 06-Jul-12 19:14:59

all I have noticed lately is that Pheobe is obviously not coming back/wanting to stay

MrsWembley Fri 06-Jul-12 19:17:22

Oh, I keep missing episodes so I'm no judge <blows raspberry at DP and DCs> but I keep hearing people (family mostly) banging on about how well he looks and then every now and again he mentions his head or something or other not feeling right and I think, ok, massive signposts, bye-bye Adam...

HumphreyCobbler Fri 06-Jul-12 19:24:05

Oh I hope not! I haven't got over Nigel yet.

GrimmaTheNome Fri 06-Jul-12 19:24:07

Adam sounds like he's developing itchy feet. He'll disappear off to africa and leave Ian to be consoled by Ifty, to the devastation of his female following.

GrimmaTheNome Fri 06-Jul-12 19:26:02

I mean, they do sometimes write out major characters. Tonight finally saw the demise of The Delicious Cheese grin. I'll swear the scriptwriters had a bet on how often they could mention the damn thing.

MrsWembley Fri 06-Jul-12 19:32:14

gringringrin

I thought Ian sounded very flirty with the picker the other night? Phoebe's going to come back and FLIP OUT about her room. My parents did something very similar to me and I went mental, as I'd spent all my time thinking of my room at home and I came back and it was all different <sobs>

GrimmaTheNome Fri 06-Jul-12 22:09:22

Oh yes, Pavel ... he's going to pull a muscle picking and Ian will offer him a soak in the hot tub and then Adam will have an excuse for storming off.

I thought the same about Feebs.

heronsfly Fri 06-Jul-12 22:46:04

I dont think Phoebe is coming back till school starts again, although pretty sure Roy and Hayley have got custody, so she will have to come back, like it or not, Im surprised we havent heard from Kate grin

Lilymaid Sun 08-Jul-12 19:27:45

My theory on "the voice" that makes the telephone threats is that it is that member of the Horribin family who has recently appeared. Think it is Keith Horrobin and he's turned up because there is a ghastly Horrobin wedding?

MrsWembley Sun 08-Jul-12 19:52:48

Ooh, a Horrobin... forgotten about them.smile

heronsfly Sun 08-Jul-12 21:08:12

I think its a Horrobin too, is Emma a Horrobin ? if so. thats how they knew the kids had been sent away !

GrimmaTheNome Sun 08-Jul-12 21:57:56

Somehow, while I've gathered there is a Horrobin wedding, I've no idea whose it is. Some irrelevant niece of Susan's?

Herons - spot on. As per usual, Roy caves in. How old is Feebs - 13, 14? I wouldn't let my DD go off camping with mixed bunch up to 17-18 I'd never met.

Greenshadow Mon 09-Jul-12 08:32:28

Yeah, the Horrobin keeps on about how expensive this wedding is - got to be some reason for bringing him into the story.

Ponders Mon 09-Jul-12 08:41:03

Emma is a Carter - Susan is a Horrobin, the bride's father is her brother Keith who is a newly-voiced character. There are a lot of Horrobins & most of them are a bad lot.

Horrobin is such a brilliant name for naughty people grin

CurrySpice Mon 09-Jul-12 08:41:42

I'm puzzled by this random Horrobin as well. Why is he doing all the wedding arranging? We need a bridezilla!!

Ponders Mon 09-Jul-12 11:42:20

aha, I see herons has been listening to AmEx wink

TheOriginalSteamingNit Mon 09-Jul-12 11:43:58

Oh you just knew as soon as Hayley was fretting about decorating the room and how much Feebs was going to love it that it wasn't going to work out that way....

Ponders Mon 09-Jul-12 14:21:49

major cock-up by SWs grin

'Since school term in South Africa runs from 16th July until 28th September, I don't know who Phoebe is going to be on holiday with'

of course! Southern Hemisphere countries have their long holiday at Christmas!

oopsie...
