Zoe Ball is standing in for Ken Bruce - unfortunately

I don't know why BBC stick with some prssenters who were obviously bad choices from the start - Zoe Ball is similar to many in that she is obviously trying (too hard) to sound bright and sparkly in the morning, and is totally phoney. Bring back Ken.

I now depart to R4 when Vine is on. He sounds like the local creepy vicar - all mealy mouthed and insincere. Unfortunatley I now have to change the dial when ZB is on as well...

I can just about remember when Jimmy Young ran the show, and you got really intelligent debate. As soon as they turned into a phone-in (rather than just reading out selected, informed comments) it went downhill - if I wanted to hear (mostly) ignorant, people ranting, I'd stand at my local bus stop.

Vine is just a tabloid muckracker with a BBC accent - they obviously choose loud=mouthed, opinionated (but uninformed) people to go on air, just so they can get a bit of shouting going. Some fool thinks that makes for 'stimulating' listening that will increase audience share - in fact, the sensible audience learn nothing, and just move on.

Yes, completely agree with you!!

ZB is just trying so hard to get down with the R2 listeners whom I imagine she thinks are slightly demented old fools, who need livening up a bit, whilst she tries to be a bit 'mumsy'. Hideous. I always think she must hate doing the stand in for KB.

JV show is just the Daily Mail on radio combined with the Christian Union Soc.

Grrrr.

I have heard some of J Vine's shows but they clash with some other items (either R4 Y+Y then World at One, though admittedly I'm giving that a wide berth at present, or comedy on Radio 7 {rumoured to become Radio 4 Extra or somesuch).

I have only heard ZB early on a weekend now and then, but not sure what the audience wants from a mid-morning show. Had often found live music a rather strange aspect of Ken's show, but maybe that's because I had been used to enjoying Today on R4 (until they got rid of Ed Stourton {well, moved him to Mid East hotspots where he could be killed!}) and then some other programmes on local radio, so I could learn what's going on in Staffordshire or Shropshire (R Wales covers more of what's happening in Newport / Cardiff / Swansea than in mid-Wales or North Wales, so not much "local" gets reported by them, IMO).

I kind of like Zoe! And I really like Liza Tarbuck, currently standing in on Saturdays.
I always turn over when Vine comes on, despicable show. And I dislike Steve Wright too so I never go back.

I found Richard Madeley incredibly irritating last week, standing in for Simon Mayo. At every possible opportunity he mentioned his family, a personal anecdote (usually sleb related) and so on [yawn emoticon]. Find ZB dire too.

My goodness, I detest Jeremy Vine. The Daily Mail on the radio is a spot on description. He's so full of his own self-importance, like his show is some sort of daily state-of-the-nation address of great consequence.

I really like Liza Tarbuck too, I hope she gets a chance to be on more regularly.

With the (very sad) demise of 6 Radio, it may give the opportunity for more new presenters on Radio 2. I doubt it, though. I heard that they have been asked to appeal to older listeners, so I dread to think what they will come up with!

And don't get me started on Steve Wright...

Simon Mayo's the only thing on Radio 2 I listen too. But he was much better on Radio 5 (but then I love speech radio).

Steve Wright - Grrrrrr
