Joe has forecast the End of Days. I agree.

Joe Sad I am still listening if I happen to be around or in the car, but no longer making any conscious effort.

The long established characters have either been written out, ignored or changed beyond all credible recognition. And the new characters are pointless - I don't like any of them.

It feels like the end of an era.

I'm still aware at Archers o'clock that I haven't got to put myself through all that, and I don't. Sometimes ask a friend for a brief update , but mostly don't bother. Doubt I'll go back to it.

Thanks for the new thread, pseudo. This one will reach a new milestone later in the month, as we are less than 500 posts away from the 60,000th post in this series. ArchersStar

I'm still listening (and enjoying it) after a mere 26 years. I can't wait until the trial starts...

Can't be the End of Days while Adam still has Herbal Leys needing explanation. (And he always seems to spend an awful lot of extra time in the polytunnels when there are pickers on the premises ...)

But I do hope Joe is allowed to drift off to sleep forever in his favourite chair in his ancestral home - like all Ambridge royalty.

Which is why I was assuming it was spelled "herbal lays".

On another note - I made a mental note to try and catch Home Front but have just missed it. Reading the iPlayer blurb I can't help feeling envious (on TA's behalf) of their editor and writing team: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07kcckt. Just imagine how good TA might be.

Helen has NEVER listened to advice in all her life. She always has shut down anyone, other than Rob, who has ever expressed doubts what she wants to do.
She's behaving entirely in character now IMO!

Quote from the previous thread.

I think this is some sort of cack-handed attempt at verisimilitude on SOC's/the SWS' part, in that as I understand it is common for women who have been the subject of EA to close down and be unable to admit what happened, even to themselves. I don't think even Helen is stupid/obstinate enough to deny the rapes just because she wants to, because if she did she would have to realise that it substantially reduces her chances of keeping her children, let alone being acquitted.

The trouble is that SOC is also using this angle because it suits him, as he thinks it makes the storyline all the more dramatic if we are left in doubt till the very late stages whether the truth is going to come out. He is also ignoring the fact that any lawyer who knows anything about this type of abuse would have drafted in a psychiatrist ages ago, and I think that is one of the more unforgivable aspects of all this. Really it verges on negligence on the part of the lawyers involved, as does the failure to do more digging around potential witnesses to abuse by Rob. In dramatic terms, it's a total failure because it doesn't make the SL more exciting, if anything it makes it seriously tedious.

It's about as dramatic as watching a snail eek it's way towards a large drop

I gave up listening a while ago, tuned back in for the "denouement" of the Hellrob storyline, and tuned out again, permanently, in disgust.

I don't miss it anymore but I do miss these threads Smile

I listen to the omnibus on Iplayer Radio every Sunday while I fall asleep, it's familiar and comforting even if it is a load of rubbish. Sunday is my favourite night to go to bed as I don't have to find something to listen to, I've always got the Archers waiting for me, sad as it sounds, I like having something to rely on in a turbulent life.

Rob must realise he's being shunned after Harrison used the excuse of having a thing to go to and Fallon didn't cop (arf) on.

Watching the women's rugby sevens getting thrashed by New Zealand is frankly preferable to the tedium that is TA. Certainly way up there on the tragedy front.

Thank you for the new thread, Psuedo. Well done again!Grin. I had almost forgotten about Helen. Realisitically, it seems odd to keep her at HMP for all this time costing the taxpayer a small fortune. In the time between, it seems that the only thing anyone remembers is that H stabbed R. Not the circumstances. If Helen is banged up for life, the only person responsible is SOC. TA is no longer about the everyday lives of country folk set in a rural setting, but more about the internal machinations of the editor. Yawn. I've gone from being interested and engaged to being bored by the whole thing. It happened with Footballers Wives as well. Another SOC progeny.
