Marking place.

Surely we can't have another 3 months of this. I haven't felt this tense since Sam the stock man.

Thank you for the new thread Pseudo.

When you run a bath you constantly check the water and when you've had a baby you are used to doing so. I don't believe any mother, for whom their baby was so precious as Henry was to Helen, would ever not check the bath. And as previous posters have said 5 year olds get in baths on their own.

What happens in our house is that dd dips a toe, complains it's too hot, I feel it and it's normally fine so I add a little more Cold and she happily gets in. That's when she isn't having a shower by herself.

Totally ludicrous story for a 5 yo child. Maybe the next big sl will be the school thinking Henry has a developmental delay

Gherkinsmummy · 05/03/2016 13:09

When Henry wakes up perhaps they will ask him? Rob and Helen are weird with Henry he often seems to be left to get ready for bed alone, but can't run his own bath? My 5 year old puts the plug in and does the taps.

I think she'll kill him and they'll be a trial where all his past misdemeanours come out. Does he control the mother or vice versa. There's a nasty Bamberish twist coming I think. Although I think Pat will twig and save the day. There might be a Pat v Ursula stand off a la Bellatrix and Molly Weasley. The baby will be called John and this bit of the Archer clan will regroup and finally start recovering.

Sorry that was a bit of a stream of consciousness.

I have completely disengaged from the story.

I am sure it based on truth but, its not what I want to listen to for entertainment and listening for 'enjoyment' makes me feel grubby.

I am loving the other bits.

I think it's more that the SWs don't know what a five year old is like (cf 'awwwwrite') than that the story is meant to be dodgy on that level.

I remember my ds (not pfb) already running his own baths at two and a visiting friend being astonished that he was allowed to do this. He was more than capable of operating the taps and he never made it too hot for himself. the thought of Henwee being unable to do this at five is hard to believe. But as has been pointed out, we only have Ursula's word for what happened. Bath may have already been run and she may have topped it up with scalding water for all we know - Pat and Tony did express surprise, not sure what else they could have done. Slightly surprised Henwee was asleep on Ursula's shoulder and didn't stir - a five year old is a heavy weight to carry in from the car - wondering if she might have given him something to make him drowsy. I think we are maybe not meant to think about it in too much detail - just accept something has happened and Arsula is now spreading lies to Pat and Tony so they will think she is marvellous and Knob even more marvellous which is what seemed to be the top and bottom of it last night. No doubt Henwee will be mute when he wakes up (he wouldn't be the first child character to suffer this fate) and it will never be spoken of again.

New thread already! Another great title, thanks for that, Pseudo.

I wonder how long ago SOC knew he was off. If several months back, odd that the BBC hasn't yet got another Editor lined up. It just seems a bit coincidental that he is if leaving TA in the early summer and we seem to be heading towards some sort of crisis around then. I do feel the tension is racking up a bit now, and then as reported on the last thread BBC Worldwide is preparing to release a standalone CD of the Helen'n'Rob storyline in the autumn - would they do that unless they expected the SL to be over by then? The thought that it might just be Part 1 and will end up with a jaunty 'To be continued!' is too awful to contemplate. Shock

Report

I didn't know that about the CD, must have missed the post. Is it just the clips with that storyline cut away from the main show? Surely that would sound really odd (like I know anything about the media). Or is it going to be like Ambridge Extra (which I never liked) with added bits of horror?

Who in the name of ... would buy that?! It's got to be a sure sign of some kind of psychopathic or other disordered tendencies to inflict that on anyone!

lljkk · 05/03/2016 14:54

omg, I wouldn't trust my 5yo to run a bath. There's be giant flooding in no time. Even at 8yo Ds would still like it deeper than I want (still thinking flooding, not drowning!!)
Henwy speaks like my 5yos did. Though most of mine had minor speech delay.

RockNRollNerd · 05/03/2016 14:54

Is the CD a compilation of the actual story line or is it going to be some strange kind of Amex thing whereby we actually now hear all the back story and other points of view... That could possibly explain all the clanking great plot holes and people acting out of character but I don't see how it could work as the storyline's gone on too long for anyone to remember all the last little bits of detail (with the possible exception of it we launched a huge group effort on this board). I'm definitely not volunteering to recap the CD the way I did Amex though Grin.

I don't know what's planned. I've been trying to track down further information and, as far as I can make out, a couple of weeks ago there was an Amazon webpage for it but now there isn't. This makes me wonder if it was advertised too early by mistake. The info I had (from other Archers fan sites) suggested that it would mostly be compiled from TA broadcasts. I hope it's not an Amex type thing. I could never got on with that idea, and was delighted when SOC scrapped it as soon as he started.

Hello chums.
Sick and tired of SL indescrepancies.

First time in my listening life (20 years) that I've actively avoided listening.
A few little errors no problem, but massively erroneous signposting about Arseula, Knob, Jess and their characters/relationships/purpose has done it for me.

BoreOfWhabylon · 05/03/2016 15:45

Thanks as always Pseudo

I don't think Hellin has ever wanted this baby, probably due to the circs of its conception.

I think either a stillbirth or, more likely, when Knob finally unmasked (and I pray it is soon) SOK will be whisked away by Arsula and Knob (unless he is dead/in prison) and will return many years hence to wreak havoc.

This will be SOC's planned legacy to TA: Henwee and SOK as Cain and Abel.

Exactly this, he's 4 and we use the shower to fill the bath so he can't reach it.

I too am astonished Kirsty and Ian, or Kirsty and Pat, aren't already talking.

Wasn't it nice to hear a happily married couple last night? Emma so sweetly identified what was troubling Ed and coaxed him into making the best decision for himself.

And Uncle Tom did the same for Johnny earlier this week.

Ambridge is overflowing with love, acceptance, empathy ... But poor Helen cannot reliably access any of it. If I were her, at this moment, I think I'd be feeling pretty suicidal.

Great thread title Pseudo - let's hope it comes true.
