Burgh Island was the inspiration for the novel, but it's a very different shape to the the BBC island. It's not Lundy, and as the house on the island is CGI I'm wondering if the whole thing is CGI - some of the sun peeking through the clouds over the island is just a little too picturesque to be true. The beach scenes were shot in Cornwall (Kynance Cove is Location) and the house is Harefield House in Hillingdon. Charles Dance has talked about walking along a beach and up a cliff path in Cornwall and then seamlessly appearing to approach the house so I suspect CGI is the answer.
