Have I missed something or is one of the old guard about to retire?

Only there's another new (female Shock) presenter...

Missed it this morning.

Please let the retiree be Humphrys. He is so interested in point-scoring against his debating opposition that he loses sight of the actual subject in question.

What's going on - there's a new presenter on Woman's Hour too.

I really wish it was Humphrys too R4, but I fear not. He is inexplicably well thought of.

The new presenter did well, I thought. Only heard the last hour though.

She was on the other day, too, and did well then, I thought.

Shocker about two, yes two, female presenters on this morning! Haven't heard that in a long while.

No retirement, but Naughtie is focussing on the Scottish referendum and will be away a lot doing that. Mishal Husain was pretty good. I knew her vaguely at University- she was nice, but extremely posh- tended to wear Pashminas when the rest of us were in scruffy t-shirts. She also had BIG hair, which the BBC budget has clearly tamed.

I wasn't sure about her 2 hander with Sarah Montague later in the week though- in feminist principle fantastic, but their voices were a bit too similar.

I am trying to remember if Sarah Montague and Sue McGregor overlapped, or if this is the first time we've had two women on the team.

Naughtie is off - not sure what will happen after the Scotland Referendum. I like his voice but he does tend to waffle - plus when he and Humphrys do a double act it is a bit old gits are us.

Mishal Hussain very capable in my opinion

Agree that it's time JH retired but I bet he won't. Ditto Paxman on NN.

Longstanding Today addict here, I love it when John and Jim are on together, they are brilliant journalists. (and I am a huge Paxman fan- must be age) They have 'youthed up' the mix a bit with Sarah, Evan and Justin, so Mishal does add balance, I liked hearing the two women do such a good job. A few years ago, Carolyn Quinn and, if I recall, Martha Kearney, also had bouts on Today, so not unusual to have two women presenters together. Also noticed more women presenters on the sports reports too, which is also very welcome.

I'm sure I've heard two women before maybe Sue and Carolyn, maybe Sue and Sarah, but it's a bit of a rarity, which was why I posted...

Talking about similar voices, though... Gits are us!!GrinGrin

Mishal Hussain doing v.well, sounds relaxed and confident. Am personally still in mourning for Mr Stourton - cannot understand why he got the push. have to get up v early on Sunday morning to catch his superbly measured presentation. Have noticed he is on WATO at the moment ( am not stalker, honest)

I would love JH to retire - he's the only one I shout at when he wilfully misinterprets an agenda and doesn't listen to the interviewees.

I'm liking Mischal however I must admit I don't like the female science (?) correspondent who's name I can't remember who, to me, sounds like she's recording a project for college. Usually reporting something about bees. Or marmosets.

JMcJ I think it was Winifred Robinson who overlapped with Sarah Montague. But it transpired that they were in competition for only one job and SM got it. I wish I could remember if they ever presented a programme jointly.
