Is she quite mad?

Does she really think that sustainability is just a niche concern?

I was just spluttering at the radio.

Anyone hear?

There was another contributor to the program who was suggesting that sustainability should be built into the manufacturing process of the things we buy. She wrote a book called "The Secret Life of Stuff". Claire Fox didn't think that anything should get in the way of growth and that even expecting people to recycle or consider the sustainability of their consumption was unnacceptable, and that care for the environment was just a niche concern.

OMG there's no hope for the world really is there?Or was she just being devil's advocate do you think? I hate it when journos do that.

I don't think she was being devil's advocate no. I've heard her before and she always seems to be a bit extreme.

has she got a twitter or whatever site? Praps you could bombard her with environmentally responsible tweets (sorry I don't really know what i'm talking about!) computerwise i mean.

She makes a living out of arguing against the prevailing view. She is a professional agent provocateur. She has had an odd career - she was once one of the people behind Living Marxism and is now an conservative iconoclast, which is as much of a contradiction as it sounds. I was once on a panel with her once and it was a horrible experience!

Yes, I bet she's awkward on any subject...

Have to say she can really irritate, but on The Moral Maze some of the guests are even worse when it comes to evading questions, trying to get their own policy view a mention, etc, so no doubt she is perhaps just being provoked half the time (the rest of the time it is just second nature to her!)
