I'm not quite sure how I get myself into these situations sometimes blush.

After 'just looking' at a different doubles seat for my P&T yesterday, I have now managed to buy and pay for a whole new buggy and doubles seat hmmgrin.

Fingers crossed it's less hassle to fit in my boot than other P&T models.

Better get the dash on eBay grin.

Ihateparties Thu 31-Jan-13 16:14:27

Aha, now I'm interested to hear how it works as a double <have been tempted many a time despite the small lower seat> Will you be using it in the newborn toddler set up or is it for two older ones?

HiccupHaddockHorrendous Thu 31-Jan-13 16:24:45

It's for two older ones (I'm a CM). Do you think the doubles seat will be much smaller? Starting to think it was a bad impulse buy (though, they tend to be my best buys grin). Everything I've read says the main seat is the same size as other P&T models but I didn't think to check if the doubles seat would be the same blush.

One of the main things I'm hoping will help me is the smaller wheels. Also, the doubles seat recline looks like it will be better for taller passengers...desperately trying to justify my purchase grin. Oh and I think I got it for a good price so if it's not as great as I'm hoping then might get a good price for it on eBay!!

Ihateparties Thu 31-Jan-13 16:32:26

When I last looked at it, no children present for comparison, the main seat looked big, well tall at least, the lower seat looked shorter. But I can't say that bothers me, a good few tandems have shorter rear seats. I really don't know.. I've never seen children in one, that's why I'm so curious!

HiccupHaddockHorrendous Thu 31-Jan-13 16:36:32

Well, I let you know when I've got my hands on it grin...I'm actually quite excited because I rarely buy new buggies plenty of secondhand ones though.

Tiggywunkle Fri 01-Feb-13 00:52:52

I would like to hear your feedback too. ihateparties and I have looked but not bought....yet...

HiccupHaddockHorrendous Fri 01-Feb-13 08:19:04

Ooh, I'll definitely update when it gets here. Current status says it's been dispatched but that was at 9pm and I only bought it at 3pm so it might possibly be here today grin or I'll have to wait until Monday.

fairimum Fri 01-Feb-13 20:02:11

ooo where did you get it from?

HiccupHaddockHorrendous Fri 01-Feb-13 20:04:53

eBay.

It was £385 for the single buggy, doubles seat and postage. Was secretly hoping it would be delivered today but looks like I'll have to wait until Monday.

fairimum Fri 01-Feb-13 20:26:37

thats a great price! be interested to hear if the doubles seat is smaller as looking at this and the navigator!

fairimum Fri 01-Feb-13 21:15:07

who was the sell hiccup? as that price is amazing!

HiccupHaddockHorrendous Fri 01-Feb-13 21:43:31

Daisytoysandnursery. If you search Phil and Teds Dot there is a red and a lime at the same price.

fairimum Fri 01-Feb-13 22:31:59

ooo..... thank you smile

fairimum Fri 01-Feb-13 22:34:35

ooo i read that one as being a single... brilliant price!

HiccupHaddockHorrendous Sat 02-Feb-13 02:43:25

Features include
- NEW! main seat recline with no dangling straps
- NEW! 5 point harness with additional tuck away strap length (ideal for adjustment for winter clothing), no dangling tails and easy adjustment
- NEW! double kit easy one hand recline
- double kit with 5 point safety harness and sun canopy
- main seat and double kit seat liner

C&P from the listing...really hoping I haven't mis-read it now blush. Will let you know what arrives grin

<keeps fingers crossed for the special doubles seat>

HiccupHaddockHorrendous Mon 04-Feb-13 10:06:42

I'be just received the buggy and guess what? No doubles kit!

I was sure from the wording in the description that it was included sad.

fairimum Mon 04-Feb-13 12:37:35

oh no sad I couldn't decide either way from the wording sad what will do you?

Ihateparties Mon 04-Feb-13 12:56:43

It was ambiguous wasn't it, didn't specifically say single or double. Hmmm. What are you going to do?

ValiumQueen Mon 04-Feb-13 13:06:57

The description is indeed ambiguous. Features include double kit, seat pads for both seats etc. I think it is worth complaining to the seller. They may send a double kit to you. It should clearly say 'double kit not included' after those specs.

HiccupHaddockHorrendous Mon 04-Feb-13 20:43:13

I emailed the seller first thing this morning but no response so far. I don't know if I can justify another £100 for the doubles kit but will be quite miffed if I have to pay to return the buggy.

If I haven't heard from them by tomorrow afternoon then I'll open a dispute with eBay.

fairimum Mon 04-Feb-13 21:03:45

i am sure there was one on there for £399 that included it too...

fairimum Mon 04-Feb-13 21:04:54

hmm has gone now sad

HiccupHaddockHorrendous Tue 05-Feb-13 10:03:29

I did see one for £399 aswell...it's sold now.

I just opened a case and the seller sent me a message straightaway to say the listing was for the single only. I've responded so will see what they say.

If I return it, I have to pay the shipping costs which is annoying but cheaper than having to pay another £100 for the extra seat.

fairimum Tue 05-Feb-13 12:29:06

sad hmmm... it is unclear, as listing suggests it includes the doubles sad

fairimum Tue 05-Feb-13 12:31:00

i actually emailed your seller before you got your dot asking if the doubles seat was included, got a reply this morning saying it wasn't, so ahve replied to them that their listing does imply that the doubles kit is included. KNow not much help to you but might make them rethink...

i would appeal to ebay as you shouldnt have to pay the postage to return as it is not as described!

HiccupHaddockHorrendous Tue 05-Feb-13 13:57:19

Thanks, fairimum.

They've replied saying it is obvious that the listing was for a single but I can return it or pay another £85 for the doubles seat.

I've asked who will pay for the return but am fully expecting to have to pay it myself.

I'll check to see if it'll fit in my boot first then keep looking for a good deal.

fairimum Tue 05-Feb-13 14:11:18

i would get ebay involved with a not as described dispute!

HiccupHaddockHorrendous Tue 05-Feb-13 14:22:19

I have opened a dispute...I think that's why the seller responded. Unfortunately, all eBay will do is say I need to return it but can't force the seller to pay the return postage.

I need to find a cheap courier. The one I used to use went out of business before Christmas.

Well, I've had a play around with my dash and managed to get the main seat to sit a bit further forward (it seems quite reclined normally) which has given a bit more room for the child in the rear seat. Also, the smaller, dot rear wheels will fit on the dash but not the front one so I could possibly try and get hold of a couple of rear wheels to add to mine and not bother getting a new Dot afterall.

I'm going to have a trip to Mothercare next week to see if they have a dot on display so that I can see the rear seat in action grin.

I have found a website selling the main seat, doubles kit and raincover for £435. That's the cheapest I've found so will probably go for that if I do decide to get it. Also, I have used that site before.

HiccupHaddockHorrendous Wed 13-Feb-13 20:54:20

Right, dot was collected yesterday so I'm just waiting for a refund.

I've found another eBay seller, selling the dot for £250. Too good to be true?

MrsJK Mon 25-Feb-13 21:27:00

How did this end Hic? Did u purchase another one from a different seller?

How small is the dot? I'm bizarrely drawn to this but have a tinney tiny boot so would have to be super small to fit! grin

HiccupHaddockHorrendous Tue 26-Feb-13 13:38:23

Another one arrived this morning grin!! (After another failed eBay purchase angry)

I haven't had a chance to play with it yet but I will report back later...it is definitely more compact than a normal P&T when folded.

MrsJK Tue 26-Feb-13 14:20:12

Fab thank you!

I drove out to a big Mothercare this morning to have a little play (and to see if it wld fit into my tiny boot) Which is does smile I NEED IT!!

Did u find a good deal in the end? I only need it as a single at the moment!

Enjoy your new toy x

HiccupHaddockHorrendous Tue 26-Feb-13 16:47:40

I got it from Practical Pushchairs...it was £348 for the single and a free fleece blanket (quite a cheap one with Practical Pushchair logo on it).

I've just taken it for a test drive and I'm not madly in love with it...yet!

The straps on the buggy weren't long enough for the child I had in it but I think these can be adjusted some more. Would need to do it without a child in it so will have to have a fiddle with it later. However, the child I had in it is 4 so possibly not a problem for you.

The seat appears to be a lot less spacious than I'm used to with the Dash and the Sport but mindee fitted in it and looked comfy (apart from the harness).

The hood is much better, the recline on the doubles seat is fab, the folding is good but I'll have to practice it a bit so that the handle doesn't scrape on the floor and rip the foam.

The handle is less padded and did start to hurt my hand but I was walking up a steep hill, pushing one handed and the wheels could have done with a bit more air...I was in such a rush to get out that I didn't pump them up.

I'm going to have a play with it tonight and have another test drive tomorrow...I'm sure once I stop comparing it to other P&T models then it will grow on me more.

Also, one last thing, I was expecting the rear wheels to be closer together but it is as wide as the dash.

HiccupHaddockHorrendous Tue 26-Feb-13 19:34:36

Have solved the harness problem in the main seat and that is all fine now smile.

Just going to pump up the wheels then it's already for its next trip out tomorrow.

I'm thinking the recline on the rear seat will be enough to make me keep it.

fairimum Thu 28-Feb-13 12:39:48

I got one too and am loving it! I am only 5'2" so finding it that bit smaller is making it much easier than the sport for me to manage smile I havent found the seats to be much smaller, maybe the rear one but not a problem for me as dd still in the cocoon for now and by the time she is out of the back seat DS shouldnt be in the buggy x
